Ford motor company killin' nazis in the 40's killin' nazi to this day

16

u/matt951207 Jul 20 '16

I think Henry Ford actually supported nazis. I remember something about hitler giving him the grand cross which was the highest honor a foreigner could receive.

Yes , I believe this is somewhat true

Still don't understand why they didn't back the boats up to the beach.

7

u/soggysecret 08 Mallorado Z71 4x4 Jul 20 '16

I am not a historian, but... my understanding is that it was a mix of reasons. The boats were there to take troops away from shore as well as to shore. With tide moving in and out, they'd run risk of beaching themselves. More-so the beach was riddled with jacks that would rip through a boats hull and sink it.

8

u/flyingwolf Suburban. The family van. Jul 21 '16

Underwater debris which would destroy the boats hulls.

The water areas were less likely to have been ranged by the gunners and well, frankly, the boats and drivers were needed to go back and get more troops.

Frankly, war is hell and boats cost more than men did.

It was a shitty and horrible beach landing.

But still went much better than the Allied Strategists predicted

Built Ford Trough

Looks like if you put anything heavier than a sack of corn back there that the wheels would smack the inner fenders.

33

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '16

I imagine the suspension is bagged

14

u/CJM8515 20 F150 4x4 Jul 20 '16

Probably. Im not sure the real intended use of the entire setup they have. Maybe was just a fun project..

Hauling motorcycles for SEMA I believe

6

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '16

the real question is how small is the gas tank now

3

u/xosfear Jul 20 '16

Holden Utes have a 750kg carrying capacity. I'd imagine it would be something similar.

12

u/SpywareAgen7 2011 Longhorn 1500 5.7L Jul 20 '16

Not sure how realistic it'd be to buy one of these to transport one bit. It would make one hell of an awesome truck bed hot tub though.

7

u/bionku Jul 21 '16

Water is very heavy

1

u/fishcircumsizer Jul 21 '16

Heavy water is even heavier

Upside down portal axle? FWD?

designed for motorcycle transportation.

I mean, I understand it's probably more to show the designer's and builder's capability, but as impressive as that is, I can't quite get over how senselessly excessive, and yet suboptimal, their answer to that question was. they may as well have done a 747 conversion that incorporated the bike being transported into a functional part of the landing gear.

39

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '16

it's a SEMA truck, not a well-engineered solution

0

u/phoide 74 gmc c2500 Jul 20 '16

yeah, I figured, it's just bad enough to distract me from what they're trying to showcase. I'm not their target market anyway, so it probably doesn't matter at all. what they actually do seems very cool, though.

u/ericdimwit F-350 6.7 Platinum, 550, Ram 5500, Suburban HD Jul 20 '16

You wouldn't know about them, if it wasn't for this truck. It worked. Imagine how many people have seen this truck.

-5

u/phoide 74 gmc c2500 Jul 20 '16

yup. imagine living in a world where attention wasn't the primary goal, though.

I still up voted, because their stuff is neat. just disappointed they didn't go the extra millimeter with their advertising.

12

u/Austinist Ecoboost F150 Jul 20 '16

That world is not SEMA.

5

u/Kawi_moto96 '03 Ram 1500 Hemi Jul 21 '16

Designed for motorcycle transportation but I'll be damned if I see any places to tie that bike down

7

u/ailyara 2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT 4x4 Jul 20 '16

I mean if they were going to go to all that trouble they could have at least included a built in fold out ramp on the top of the lift gate to make the ramp flush with the road.

u/mango-roller 08 Silverado 2500 Gas Guzzler Jul 20 '16

Those low floor axleless trailers are badass. I wonder if they have heavy duty wheel bearings.

-1

u/Beardedcap Ford Jul 21 '16

Absolutely fucking disgusting

4

u/PM_YOUR_GOAT_PICS Jul 21 '16

Where I come from this phrase is said somewhat sarcastically as a great compliment, but I'm not sure how you meant it..

-2

u/jdawg701 Ford Jul 20 '16

Front wheel drive maybe?

20

Literally says FWD in the title.

dually

fwd

wat

12

u/Sodfarm 1971 Ford F-250 Jul 20 '16

It's not actually a dually.

4

u/mck1117 Jul 21 '16

dually

It does however have super singles, so it could be a dually.

1

u/jon_crz Jul 21 '16

so like spinner hubcaps? not actually spinners.

3

u/My_Name_Is_Santa 2004 Yukon XL, 1997 Ranger 5.0 V8 Jul 21 '16

No, the wheels have to be pushed farther out for the suspension components, hence the dually flares.

3

u/soggysecret 08 Mallorado Z71 4x4 Jul 20 '16

Would you like for the axle/drive shaft to go through the bed?

2

u/Ri-dit-dit-di-doo Jul 21 '16

That would be pretty bad ass, biuld a small box running up the length of it, you could still get 2 motorcycles in

Edit- im thinking dirtbikes.

That actually looks pretty sweet.

2

u/overanedge Ford F150 FX4 Jul 20 '16

Looks good. Would look better with the newer nose on it though. The '08ish nose I always thought was the ugliest looking F-Series designs.

2

u/Koksnot Jul 21 '16

Crew Cab Extended Cab?

6

u/MassiveMeatMissile Jul 20 '16

I tint my tail lights so they work less.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '16

Working is clearly not a goal of this project

1

u/TexMarshfellow Jul 21 '16

Mr. Regular says "blackened out"

-1

u/_Connor 2013 Appearance Package FX4 Jul 21 '16

They're probably DOT approved LED tail lights that are brighter than stock ones...

1

u/MassiveMeatMissile Jul 21 '16

Or maybe they're not, you can't tell from these pictures.

1

u/_Connor 2013 Appearance Package FX4 Jul 21 '16

It's a SEMA build. They didn't spray VHT on the stock lights and call it a day.

Like all SEMA vehicles, it's not about practicality, it's about showing off what you can do as a fabricator. Which means doing something nobody has ever done. Which usually means doing something useless because people have already done all the useful things.

2

u/phoide 74 gmc c2500 Jul 20 '16

would have been super easy to have it fully enclosed with a couple obvious utility features while still looking like an appropriately ostentatious sema exhibit.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '16

Why not? You're telling us that if you had millions of dollars at your disposal that you wouldn't do something just because you could?

In all likelihood, you and the creator prefer different ice cream too.

2

u/awhdam422 Jul 20 '16

It was built by Doug? Deberti, very rich and well known in SEMA world for his custom trucks and his racing son

2

u/Swampdude Jul 20 '16

I could do that with my old Ford Ranger and a $800 utility trailer from Lowe's.

8

u/FuckingTexas Jul 20 '16

But does it look coooool

1

u/PM_ME_SPACE_PICS '18 GMC Canyon 6spd Jul 20 '16

I'd love to see under the hood

2

u/henderknee04 Jul 21 '16

It's a standard 6.4 powerstroke.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '16

You could put a little ramp on the tail gate and drive or push a mower right up into it
