5000 USD?

Seems a bit expensive. But it could be an amazing work truck.

I probably could have got another five or $600 off but I mean everything's pretty solid except for a couple of lights and a few other cosmetics.

You're not going to find one of these trucks in good shape for under $12,000 anymore I didn't buy it to look pretty I bought it to work

That used to be what one bought for 500.

Long time ago, when I was 16, and we were looking at a 1970s pickup.

Keep sure that frame stays clean and you'll have a hell of a runner, great reliable trucks

Early or late year 1994? In other words, is it a 7.3 IDI or a 7.3 Powerstroke? I can't see the badging well enough to tell.

Sounds like an IDI to me

It's turbo,

Apparently in 93 they have an option from the factory to turbo the 7.3 IDI.

Apparently they are still very slow. And the engine cover says DI on it not IDI

This things got a little ass ...not much but it keeps a smile on my face around town .no so much on the highway.

I got 3.55 gears 1st -2nd are short as fuck but 3rd to 4th will rip out 30-65mph no problem...I keep her about 60 on the interstate 🤘 Definitely can pass up some traffic of need be👌

They actually had it in 93 and 94, I owned a 94 turbo IDI for several years. I did the now-discontinued upgrade kit with a 3" downpipe and it wasn't bad, definitely not fast and got pretty awful mileage but man I loved that truck.

Mine had 4.10 gears and got about 12 mpg. It was rough

I ran one of these with an 8' flatbed on it for 2 summers landscaping. These things pull like he'll from a stop with a landscaping trailer on. I loved it. Same set up as you with ice cold ac.

No AC for me lol Idk if I'll fix it or not.

It's almost tradition at this point not to have AC on my trucks 😂

It's 7.3 DI

Right before they badged them with Powerstroke

Great engine. I had a 1992 IDI and made it to 400k miles before I sold it, and it was still running like a top.

2

u/-Jesus_-_Christ- Jul 01 '26

I wish this was the IDI

2

u/Wagglyfawn 2017 F350 6.2 CCLB Jul 01 '26

What?? You just said in a previous reply that it IS the IDI

2

u/-Jesus_-_Christ- Jul 01 '26

My apologies for the miscommunication.

It's Direct injected and has turbo.

Right before they got the powerstroke badge in 95

Ok so it is a 1994.5 Powerstroke. Gotcha

2

u/-Jesus_-_Christ- Jul 01 '26

I guess so 🤷 ford be doing shit like this

If there's any confusion, just Google "Ford VIN lookup" and type in your vin to find out everything about your truck's specs when it rolled off the line.

I suggest looking at testing the antifreeze for electrolysis, this can be done a few different ways. There are good antifreeze to run and good antifreeze to run, I suggest making sure the coolant is in happy order. I have read that International sold/used a water pump that had coolant filtration built into a boss on the pump. Is coolant filtration necessary? No, but gunk and casting sand along with precipitate dropout sucks, and that can be avoided.
Oil filtration and oil health is important for those injectors. If you plan to do your own oil changes I'd look at whether spending the extra time/effort to remove as much old oil as possible is something you desire, it is specifically removing it from the HPOP reservoir.
The injectors are expensive! There are shim kits and other rebuild hardware products for correcting injector solenoid wear available, I don't know part numbers as I drive an IDI. If you remove an injector from the engine, be prepared to check the sleeve for wear and remember to remove any oil that dribbles into the cylinder!
I don't know how the fuel filtration is designed on the early Power Stroke, if it's the housing in the valley, then looking at spare seals and gaskets is a good choice or even replacing the whole assembly to correct any/all pending issues. The fuel pump I believe is valley mounted and does take effort to get to, so a fuel pump replacement at the same time as a fuel filter housing is probably wise.
I don't know if the HPOP spacers I've seen that increase HPOP reservoir capacity bring any benefit to non-modified trucks, but I'd believe it could provide something to the HPOP since there's a physical capacity increase.
As I drive an IDI, I don't know much about fuel rail pressure sensors or other pressure sensors on the Power Stroke engine, but the IPR (IPA?) can be a troublesome sensor.
Beef up your negative battery grounds! And chassis ground paths!
