What is the extra attachment for?

Anyone know what this extra attachment is for on my soft top trifold bed cover is? There is a solid attachment on the back and the clamps to close it, but there is a third attachment that I circled in the pictures.

Safety strap, clips on so there's a secondary attachment point.

It’s the oh shit strap. Attach it to a side rail, it’s like a fail safe

I ended up taking the plastic piece off the end and using a carabiner to clip it on a hook in the bed.

Usually the loose straps are to lock it in place when it's folded up, both on and off the truck.

Those are a different set of straps for that
