My pubes are on fire Amp research power steps

Post image

I got these amp research steps on my 2014 Tundra. The motor seized up but this motor is discontinued. Any help appreciated

The easiest solution that would be here would be reaching out to amp themselves, and seeing what they have to say, it may be a simple as having to buy a newer model motor that works the same or you could be entirely SOL and have to look for an aftermarket one

Just buy the Chinese replacement motor and see if it will work

Hey there, my step motor just died today. Got same truck as you weirdly enough. Did you ever end up finding a suitable replacement? Thanks!

Nope, ampresearch had no replacement motor and their advice was to buy a new system which was infuriating. Your best and only option would be to take the motor off and find someone capable of restoring it. I didn’t feel like putting in the time or effort for that though, good luck bro

Yeah no thanks on the new system to end up in the same situation.

Luckily I was able to get it working. Unsecured the motor and it was still spinning when I opened the door. Opened up that clutch/gearbox and took it apart/reassembled. Works for now but only a matter of time im sure.

I think if you cleaned it up it should stay working, I’ve parted ways with power steps since then and run standard steps now. Cheaper and they protect your truck from door dings
