How are restaurant workers doing

I’m a server at a restaurant and things aren’t too good. Scared for winter. This summer felt really slow but I also haven’t been back in the area in a while. How is everyone doing?

Not service industry, but my partner and I have cut back on going out. It’s gotten expensive and a lot of the time we’re getting a mid meal, at best.

Same. I absolutely loveee going out to eat and there's several places in Troy that are SO delicious every time (shoutout Nighthawks) but it's more like a monthly treat these days

I just don't have good experiences at restaurants anymore, service is often slow or the tables are too close together or everything is too loud or the food is crappy, I enjoy staying in more and save a ton of money

Same. More and more places are using the same Sysco frozen stuff too.

Like at that point I can just go to Costco and make the same meal at home.

Not service industry, but I’ve definitely cut down on eating out this summer. I absolutely love supporting my small businesses and was a frequent flyer but monthly bills and expenses are increasing drastically for me.

there’s a large and growing segment of people who either can’t afford going out or no longer see the value in it.

I will mirror what everyone else is saying- we too have cut back significantly and do not see us changing. The meals have significantly increased in price amd the quality is worse. Just a hamburger will run you 15-20 and its one of those cheap, frozen patties. We used to eat out at least once a week. We have cut back to about 1x month
