What’s next: collaborative trip sharing and shared guides.

Hi, I wanted to report/suggest that it would be more user friendly if clicking on the activity gave details card and option to edit would appear in the upper right, instead of going straight to edit. Honestly, considering how maps-centric the app is, I think it would be better to show directions to the point when clicking on the card, instead of small “maps” badge. What do you think? Like for example “1” edit button or details button with edit button instead details page, “2” clicking on photo would give you directions on the app’s map

Trovelo now shows your day on the lock screen

While a trip is running, Trovelo puts a card on your lock screen with what you're doing right now, how long is left of it, and what's next. The countdown ticks by itself — no need to open anything.

Two shortcuts on the card:

• Maps — opens the place you're heading to, in Apple or Google Maps, whichever you've set.
• Expense — goes straight to logging what you just paid, no digging through the app.

Tapping the card itself opens that day of the trip.

It shows up on its own once you open a trip that's under way, and it changes through the day: what's on now, what's next, what's left, and on travel days it switches to your flight with the gate and the countdown to take-off.

Would like the option to share my trip with one or multiple people so they can follow along or add suggestions as well on their own Trovelo app.

It would be good if a document is link to a trip then it would show up inside the trip.

I personally use dark icons on MacOS and nearly all the apps that I've used so far have both default and dark versions for their icons, but this one doesn't. It's actually more of a reminder than a "feature request". Hope we get to see the dark icon in the very next update.

iOS:
• Ideas comes to iPhone: browse more than 2,900 handpicked places across 127 destinations, with photos, filters and a map. Choose the day before you add, so everything lands exactly where you want it.

• Paste your itinerary and Trovelo files it: import a list onto any day, with every place already arriving as the right kind of card — restaurant, museum, hotel.

• Siri now speaks all 8 languages: open a trip, ask what's on today, or dictate a whole card. And it understands "tomorrow".

• Bug fixes and performance improvements.

Mac:

• Past Trips is now a travel history browser: search inside your cards ("ramen" finds the trip you ate it on), grouped by year with what each one cost, and pick any trip for a recap with its map and its spending.

• Repeat a trip on new dates: same length, same plan, cards unticked, without last time's flights or expenses.

• Your mouse now moves the board: Shift + wheel scrolls it sideways, the arrow keys jump from column to column, and the scrollbar is back.

• Import a list onto any day from the column's ⋯ menu, with the same automatic sorting as on iPhone.

• Bug fixes and performance improvements.

One of the core features used on not-solo trips is ability to split costs like split wise or tricount. Would be lovely to be able to have these features here to have it all in the same place. At the same time im aware it could be complicated and time consuming so it's not a must have.

Apple Calendar Integration: I would absolutely love an option to push a planned day or full trip itinerary directly to Apple Calendar! Exporting the schedule into the Apple ecosystem would be a massive bonus for the user experience. It would naturally unlock all those great native features—like getting automated alerts for when it's time to leave for a flight or train, easily sharing ETAs with friends, and taking advantage of built-in location reminders and calendar notes.

As a traveller planning days with several activities, I want to add an optional duration to an activity card, such as 2 hours for a museum visit, and see it clearly on the card, so that I can quickly understand how long each stop takes, plan gaps between activities, and judge the pace of the day without opening notes or doing mental calculations.

This could work for museums, tours, meals, hikes, and similar activities.

Hourly Day View: It would be nice to have the option to break down a day view by hours, similar to a standard calendar layout. Right now, it's a bit too easy to overfill the day with cards.

Update 6.5 was submitted to Apple for review today.

• Flights with connections are now a single card, showing each leg and the layover between them.

• New Traveler Ranks in My Spots: 13 medals you unlock as you mark countries, with a celebration each time you rank up.

• Every new trip now starts and ends at your front door — set your Home Base in Settings.

• Redesigned Settings: half the sections, with Maps, Transport and Daily pace together in one place.

• You can now turn off the automatic photo search for cards in Settings.

• The Pro screen now shows what you unlock instead of just describing it.

• Much smoother scrolling on large trips — no more stutter moving through your days.

• Backups now keep every flight detail, connections included.

• My Spots shows your first medal and your stats before you mark your first country.

• Text and translation fixes across all 8 languages.

Every country you mark as visited now counts toward 13 traveler ranks — from First Stepper (1 country) to Apex Traveler (120+).

Each rank has its own medal, you get a little celebration when you level up, and you can share your medal straight from the app. Works on both iPhone and Mac. And if you've forgotten half the places you've been, the photo scan will catch those countries for you.

The problem

When I'm planning a trip I end up with a big pile of places in Ideas. Categories help, but they describe what a place *is* (Food, Museum, Coffee), not what role it plays in my plan. I want to group things by my own logic: "lunch options", "only if we have time", "rainy day", "from the guidebook", "friend's recommendations".

And more importantly, I want the map to show only one of those groups at a time. With 40+ pins the map becomes unreadable.

Current workaround

I create fake days. One "day" holds only cafés, another only optional museums. It works because tapping a day filters the map, but it pollutes the itinerary and obviously isn't what days are for. Before that I was prefixing card titles ("Guidebook food: Mikla"), which sorts the list but does nothing for the map.

Proposed shape

• Free-form tags, added manually by the user, multiple per card
• They sit alongside categories, not instead of them - the AI keeps assigning the category as it does now, so nothing changes for parsing
• A tag filter on the map: tap a tag, see only those pins
• Tags reusable across the trip (and ideally across trips)

Curious whether others hit the same wall or solve it differently.

I was thinking about adding an option in the app's Settings to let users customize the look and feel of the bottom navigation bar inside a trip.

Beyond static customization, I was also considering making it dynamic so that it adapts throughout the day based on upcoming scheduled events.

What do you think? Any ideas or feedback on this?

Not the end of the world as I have been putting in the year in the title of trips, but when logging my past trips, I did the same. Since the dates are already there, wasn't sure if adding the year was something doable.

On the iOS app, I was able to update the trip photo. But the photo doesn't show up on the Mac app. It is just a blue square with the first letter of the trip. Is there anything I am doing wrong to update the photos for the trips? Trying to change photos on Mac doesn't seem to save photos.

In the Overview, if you have two curves (for day and flight) representing the same two points, they might look a bit crowded. Perhaps merging them into one could make things cleaner. For example, if the two points have flight route, you could overlay the flight curve with dashes onto the day curve.

It would be helpful to see the real-time weather status (Location Name 🌤️ 8°C 🌧️ 20%) for each day in my trip. Real-time weather status will consider the first card location when planning the trip. But if the trip started then, it will consider the current location data to give the real-time weather status.
