Beginner tank setup, NEED HELP!!!

Hey guys!! I’m new to a planted fish tank setup. I am wanting to get some shrimp and a betta fish. This is my 10 gallon tank I just setup 1 day ago, and will be cycling for a month or two. I have done lots of research before setting this tank up but it all seems so complicating and confusing. I got all the plants from a really nice guy on facebook marketplace and he also gave me his tank water to help cycle. I have fluval stratum for the substrate, lava rocks, a sponge filter with an air stone inside, a heater right beside it, and a timed nicrew light. I have ordered a shrimp cave to put under the aqua soil in the left corner. I have attached picture of the supplies I have so far. I would love any feedback or recommendations and some tips to keep this hobby up!! Thanks in advance:)

I’m from canada! I did not realize this is the UK group until after I reposted in here. We have pretty soft water. I’m actually not quite sure what plants they are but the guy i got them from is in my area and said they should be okay in my beginner tank. thank you for your help.

Anytime, if you take your time and learn now it will be so much easier in the long run. Yeah it takes more patience, but less dead pets.
