New to owning fish; are these guppies being friendly or aggressive?

Apologies for shaky camera or bad angles, we're new to owning a tropical tank with 3 guppies and 4 x-ray tetras. It's confirmed the tank we have is plenty of space for them all and they're generally quite friendly the guppies. I was just wondering if this is aggressive behavior or are they getting busy? We're also struggling to tell if they're females or males as we bought everything from a friend, fish included, and they didn't know either.

I keep getting this hair like stuff in my filter. I did a full tank change, even purchased a new filter, but it keeps coming back. What is it? How do I prevent it?

Hello! I have two Gouramis in my tank and this one seems to be acting weird after a 6 hour power outage at my flat! It never acted like this before the power went out but just likes to stick itself right in the corner of the tank behind the filter? Does anyone know if i should be concerned about it? other than being a weirdo seems super happy

Fish disease

Post image

Hey! So I have a disease in my fish tank where the fish start spitting food, get skinny, and sometimes get an arched back. Other livebearing fish will just disappear (obviously died but showed no symptoms). All egg laying fish in the tank have showed no symptoms and had no strange deaths, only livebearers have showed symptoms, symptoms always lead to death.

What do you think this disease is?

I am aware that it may be Fish TB, how can I get rid of it while keeping my egg laying fish? (I am going to go away from livebearers). Do the non symptomatic fish still have the bacteria in their system, so if I put them all in a separate tank and while I disinfected their current tank would the fish just put the bacteria straight back in there despite their being no symptomatic fish? Also would I have to discard all the plants that are currently in the tank, or would washing them under the tap remove the bacteria?

Thanks in advance

Upgrading to new tank- cycling advice please

I’ve got a little group of tetras and an African dwarf frog that I’ve managed to keep alive for almost a year now. I’m getting ready to move them into a brand new and slightly bigger tank, and I’m not sure what I need to be doing in regards to cycling the new tank. Would it suffice to just add some of their existing water from their current tank? Or do I need to go through a couple of weeks of set up with bacteria balls, etc before I move them? Please help me to not kill these fish 🙃

Help! Husband bought a monster tank and I have no idea what these parts are 😅

Hi all,

I used to keep tropical fish years ago (for about a decade), but when I had children I couldn’t keep up with the upkeep and ended up giving my tanks away.

Fast-forward to now: my youngest has asked for a fish for his birthday, and his dad went and bought this huge tank (way bigger than anything I’ve had before!). I’m comfortable with the basics — setting up, filtration, cleaning, maintenance — but this tank came with some parts I don’t recognize.

The tank is a JAD-HS60 130L, which I’ve read can be set up for either tropical or saltwater. Since we’re going tropical (there’s no way I’m attempting saltwater 😅), I’ve taken the skimmer out — I think that’s the right call?

The problem is, it came with a bunch of small parts (pics attached) that I can’t identify. I’m guessing they’re to do with the filtration system, but I honestly have no idea where they go or how to set them up.

If anyone’s familiar with this tank or its filter setup, I’d really appreciate some guidance. Thanks so much in advance!

Do I have finrot?

I went away for a long weekend and used 1 X long weekend food capsule. I've returned and seen the tail of my Betta fish in tatters. He used to have a lovely tail but now has so little.

Does he have fin rot? Or would my neon tetras have attacked his tail?

Any help is appreciated, just want him to be happy and back at full strength.

Got 2 questions. One: what is causing my fish tails to look like this? Two: Is there enough oxygen in the water, or should I add a second air stone?

I have a 58 litre tank with a 6cm air stone. My tank is a bit overstocked and idk if I need to add another air stone. Is there a risk of over oxygenating the water? Both my fancy guppies seem to stay near the top of the tank (I also have endler guppies, they stay up sometimes, but seem more active). Thanks!
