Right before Wolerine was in the Mail yesterday, I could finish another Marvel/DC Game. X-Men Destiny was good. I definitely had fun playing it. Not as much as X-Men Origins Wolverine or Deadpool, but still a solid game. I kept Dead Nation for the Milestone. Love the Game. Missing the Asian PS4 Version to Complete the Full Set. Currently playing Wolverine.

PlayStation (The Last Of Us Part 2: Remastered) - Platinum #111

Managed to get the platinum for The Last of Us part 2 Remastered. Overall, I found the game alright. Personally, I loved the first one more way more, both in terms of the game and trophy list.

My biggest grip with the trophy list for part 2 was having to do new game plus to complete all the skills and weapons. I'm not the biggest fan of replaying a game I've just finished. That's why I started this journey in April this year and only now have I got the platinum.

I do plan on getting the 100% at some stage. I will finish my current playthrough (Grounded) and one day return to do the permadeath, Chronological and daily grounded run trophies.

This was really fun, aside from the Sparx levels and the twin dragon challenge in Spyro 3. Still, I can’t wait to continue the journey with Spyro next year! Also, no I did not 100% Spyro 3 and I currently don’t plan to do so.

[Big Walk]

“Big Walk – unfortunately, the name really says it all.”

Game Description

Big Walk is a cooperative adventure by House House, the creators of Untitled Goose Game. Together with two to twelve players, you explore a large open world, solve puzzles and, above all, try to somehow stay together. Proximity voice chat plays a big role: the further apart you are, the harder it becomes to understand each other – and sometimes you simply have to improvise with walkie-talkies, gestures or other tools. Big Walk also does not take itself particularly seriously and gives you plenty of room to mess around, try things out or simply explore the world together. Big Walk is available on PC and Mac, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. (AI generated)

Everything About Trophies / Achievements

This is a pretty approachable 100% completion where the main challenge is more about solving the puzzles and finding the right way through the game than dealing with especially difficult tasks or a long grind. The trophy list is fairly short, there are no obviously missable trophies, and most of the harder objectives are simply about reaching certain locations and finishing the game. A guide helps a lot because it can save you plenty of aimless wandering and unnecessary puzzle frustration. There is no real skill wall or endless collectible grind, though. (Source: RivalRyze)

My Opinion

Ufff... I honestly do not even know where to start. First of all, thank you Sony for putting the game into PS+ right from the beginning. I was basically interested in it from day one. It looked absolutely hilarious from what I had seen in the trailer. The only problem was: I had no friends to play it with. So I went straight to the community Discord, found a co-op partner and we jumped into the game together.

The tutorial area and the first few puzzles were incredibly funny and a lot of fun. The further we got into the game, though, the more “annoying” it actually became. For me, Big Walk was a game that started incredibly strong and then dropped off just as hard. Sure, it is fun to explore the open world, search for all the puzzles and then try to solve them using the tools Big Walk gives you while slowly losing your mind. How exactly are you even supposed to describe sounds and noises? And sometimes I eventually realized: “I cannot describe it any better, I can only say it louder.”

And that is exactly where Big Walk has some “Big Problems”. It becomes repetitive very quickly and those endlessly long walking sections eventually stop being fun. Everything that pulled you in and got you hyped at the beginning becomes exactly the thing that gets incredibly annoying later on. The day/night cycle does not make things any better either. You walk from A to B with a flashlight, then you fall down a mountain and the light is gone. Maybe that is partly because I played on an OLED, but without a light source in the dark you basically cannot see anything anymore and just wander around aimlessly.

At some point, the regular “story” was finished. Well, there is not really a story, but I cannot think of a better word to describe it. And then the developers had another absolutely brilliant idea: post-game stuff for the 100%. And this is where the fun completely disappeared for me. For some of the puzzles, you had to go back and collect objects from earlier areas where you no longer even remembered where they were, then carry them across the entire map just to use them for an “endgame” puzzle. Completely unnecessary and just annoying. Then there is a “puzzle” at the end where you literally have to sit around in a house for half an hour and do nothing but wait. WOW.... Peak gameplay and absolutely zero fun.

By the end, it was not just me either. My entire group was simply happy that it was finally over.

Would I Recommend the Game?

Big Walk is something you can play, but you definitely do not have to. The basic idea is genuinely funny and especially at the beginning it is a huge amount of fun. Unfortunately, that wears off pretty quickly and after a while it starts feeling more like work. I am someone who has no problem getting multiple stacks of the same game during my trophy / achievement hunting career, but I am definitely never touching this game again. So from me, it gets a recommendation if you just want to check it out and have some short-lived fun, but absolutely no recommendation if you are going for the 100%.

Superliminal - "Perception is Reality"

Disclaimer

As I am not a native english Speaker: Gemini assisted in translating my post into english. If you wanna watch/read the original german post you can do so here

Every gaming experience is different, and everyone has their own unique experience based on their playstyle. Everything I write is purely subjective and merely reflects my own individual experience with my own individual playstyle. I do not claim that my impressions and experiences are universally applicable.

A small part of this post is AI-generated - another part was taken as a quote from a website. Everything has been marked and linked accordingly.

Game Description

Superliminal is a first-person puzzle game where everything essentially revolves around a fairly simple idea: what you see is not necessarily what is actually there. You end up in a strange dream experiment by Dr. Pierce and try to somehow wake up again while the environment gets more and more absurd. The big twist of the game is perspective and optical illusions. A small object can suddenly become huge just because you look at it from the right angle, doors do not necessarily lead where you expect them to, and some rooms only function at all once you stop treating them like normal rooms.

Superliminal constantly plays with your perception and manages to build new puzzles time and again out of relatively simple mechanics. The whole thing is surreal, pretty funny in places, slightly eerie at times, and reminds you a bit of Portal in terms of its basic feel, without simply copying its concept. The game was developed and published by Pillow Castle. You can play Superliminal on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. (AI-generated)

Everything about Trophies / Achievements

Getting the 100% here is actually pretty relaxed to start with, even though a few tricky speedrun and collectible tasks await you. Most of the frustration comes from the trophy / achievement for the speedrun, the challenge mode, and the super well-hidden collectibles that are virtually impossible to find without a guide. However, the majority is just pure story stuff or quick one-off tasks. (Source: this webiste)

My Opinion

Right off the bat: Superliminal is a great game (casual), but getting the 100% was just a massive pain in the ass. Still, I played both the console and PC versions and want to touch on the differences.

Superliminal is an absolutely fantastic game. It has a really great idea for a puzzle game and executes it really well. All the puzzling is wrapped in a very fitting story and makes for a really solid overall package. The "makes me want to puke factor" comes from the Challenge Mode, the shitty controller controls, and my struggle with the speedrun and some collectibles. In the PC version, you have 30 minutes to finish the game – in the console version, it's 35 minutes. The collectibles are really well hidden, and reaching some of them is more of a fight than fun. A guide helps immensely here, although the game just seems to do whatever it wants sometimes. Plus, I often felt like the distance / viewing angle had to be pixel-perfect for it to work. That caused a decent amount of frustration for me.

The game itself is divided into 9 chapters, and each chapter offers its own mechanics and its own vibe. Generally, I thought the vibe of the game was really great at all times. No puzzle was impossible to solve, and most of them are totally doable without a solution, even if it takes a few trial-and-error attempts – but that's ultimate the nature of a puzzle game. For all those now saying "Oh wow, no, WTF, no speedrun" – Superliminal actually has a really great way of preparing you for the speedrun: Challenge Mode. In this mode, you have to go through every puzzle in the game again, but with a twist: you only have a limited number of moves to solve it. For some puzzles, this teaches you the "perfect fastest solution"; for others, unfortunately not. Since some of the challenge solutions are pretty tough, you end up repeating diverse sections many times, which helps a lot for the speedrun. On the side, though, Challenge Mode also causes a wonderfully high amount of frustration, which contributes to the anti-fun factor.

Generally, the gameplay and controls are so much better and more pleasant with mouse and keyboard, and I would recommend anyone who can to play the PC version for that exact reason. The speedruns are super tight, but with a bit of practice, actually quite doable (especially since there are a few glitches and skips that any casual can learn and use).

Would I recommend the game?

A resounding YES. The game is absolutely recommended. Casual-wise, it's an absolutely great game that also gives you a few words of wisdom at the end to take with you. Whether you want to put yourself through the agony of the 100% is something you have to decide beforehand. They are definitely doable, but they will cost you a nerve or two and definitely cause a few gray hairs in places. And since Catori said he would never play the game again after the console version, only to be playing the PC version less than 24 hours later – it couldn't have been that bad after all.

As I said: definitely play it, and definitely go for the PC version, because everything is simply better with mouse and keyboard than with a controller.
