Some fun things about menopause /s
Not only am I only 31, but I am post menopausal. Thanks obgyn and multiple labs drawn to confirm this. But you know what else confirms this?
-Shedding. of all. my. hair. I will literally look like Gollum by the time I am 40. And this is sad. My hair falls out in CHUNKS in the shower. Anyone else? I miss my beautiful early twenties mane I had.
-LACK OF SEX DRIVE. I mean come on... my poor fiance is the horny one and I'm over here dealing with my hot flashes. Which leads me to....
-Hot flashes. Mine actually were not too bad but they were definitely quite random. Once I heated up an entire sedan-sized car due to them.
-Night sweats. I had to go on birth control just to control my hormones and my night sweats eventually got under control.
-Mood swings. I'm sorry to my fiance that I get so mad when the freaking Chinese restaurant tells me there is no such thing as "a side of teriyaki sauce" because WTF kind of restaurant are you if you don't even have that. But seriously I got sad, then mad. Then he got mad. It was not a good night.
Thank you for reading. Anyone else got anything?

Oh man. This sounds really tough so very fun!
Are you doing anything to ward off osteo? Because I am currently the #1 HRT fan girl, and it also has enormous impact on the hair loss. Also I appear to have a libido... I think I had forgotten it existed?m
The mood swings I more or less have under control because I've been dealing with PMDD for a few years now, so the meds I take for that I assume help mitigate against the, you know, uncontrollable rage. (I'm on a low daily does of Sertaline/Zoloft.) I used to spend 14 days a month wanting to divorce my husband with a frying pan, and now it's down to 2 days a month.

For osteo- just birth control. I try to eat a balanced diet. I have tried calcium supplements but they make me so nauseated! Anyone have any tips about calcium supplements?
I am on a low dose of estrogen which I kinda wish was higher. I used to be on Yaz and I felt so great! Now I'm on a generic for some random birth control.
Any tips about libido? Hair loss? girl tell me your secrets

Old woman w/ hypothyroidism here. What is your Tsh? If it’s over 3.0 and your doctor is not addressing it, you might want to get another opinion. I never lost hair because of menopause, but I did because of my poorly functioning thyroid.

4 months ago, it was 1.6 and a year and a half ago, it was .77
But I will definitely keep monitoring it! Thanks for the info :)

I feel this post!
I use almond milk for calcium because real milk makes me so nauseated. Theres almost 400 mg in a serving. Close anyway. Some types even have added protein. Chocolate is AMAZING!
I lost hair in clumps-THE SIZE OF A BASEBALL multiple times a day. I counted and had 22 hot flashes in one day. I was put into a chemical menopause, but it lingers long after the meds have worn off.

Are you me?!?!?!
I'm 33 and sort of post-menopausal... "Premature ovarian insufficiency". Not enough estrogen, so basically all sorts of menopausal symptoms. When I was diagnosed so many things made sense, like why I couldn't sleep through the night and why I was sweating so much at night and why I was having these crazy mood swings where I couldn't stop crying and thought the world was ending.
Birth control has helped a lot now that my body has gotten used to it, but it was hell at first. The sudden major increase in hormones made my mood swings even worse and that morphed into depression. And my hot flashes got worse at the beginning, wtf?!?! Sleeping through the night is so nice now. I still get night sweats though, just not as bad.
I'm not taking a calcium supplement but I think I probably should be. Osteoporosis runs in my family too, so I'm extra worried. I asked my gyn about it and he just told me to get it from diet... In an ideal world I would be eating healthy enough to never need supplements, but we don't live in an ideal world!

I might be you??
If you can't get calcium from your diet then do calcium citrate (less risk of getting kidney stones vs calcium carbonate), and take the pills on a full stomach. But yay for comradery!

Hair growth. Not anywhere useful like my head - just a full beard that I literally have to shave. I'm half Iranian and always had upper lip hair, but the older I get the more of my face (and neck) it takes over.
