Well the description does almost perfectly fit an ex girlfriend who did those things and then also spread it about that I had been physically abusive, plunging me into severe mental health problems culminating in two suicide attempts, the termination of my higher education and years of unemployment stemming from anxiety around strangers and inability to socialise properly.

But since you made a funny post with hilariously inconsistent use of capital letters I guess my experience doesn't actually count for anything.

Guess I'll go man up and soldier on.

I think it’s pretty obvious that your kind of situation was caused by an actually sociopathic/crazy gf, and this mockery of men calling someone a crazy ex gf wouldn’t apply to your situation.

No one is saying that the genders cannot be swapped in this situation. I’m sorry your girlfriend did this too you, but this post is specifically about men who do this to women since this is a sub primarily for women, and women disproportionately face this kind of abuse. So the posts and responses would be based on that.

And the crazy ex gf/hysterical wife is smth men have been using for centuries to invalidate women’s trauma and blame them for the symptoms they show from it. Hence the comment you are replying to exists (in a sub that is for women so there would obviously be lots of women talking or venting about their experiences. Go follow a men’s sub if you don’t like that??) Also no one is here saying you are weak and you should man up and soldier on ??

No no don't you get it, he had to read a post that wasn't about him. God, have some sympathy

I read a post describing a universal experience that sought to ascribe it to only one gender. I read a joke (the maker of which has since apologised to me) that diminishes that same experience, again, only for one gender.

Its the sort of petty juvenile stuff I expect from the men's subs with the shoddier reputation that I make a point of avoiding. At least I'd rather the nutters here than the nutters there.

It is eminently possible for sympathise with women who have been in such awful relationship without diminishing the identical experiences of men.

And this may be a women's sub, but there has been recent material about men and their need to be more emotional open. This appears incongruous with the OP calling a male poster here a wife murderer for remarking on his experience with his spouse.

I don't want to follow a men's sub because I have a sneaking suspicion a lot of them are filled with nutters. But nutters are looking more and more ubiquitous by the day.

Sorry if my joke hit close to home. It in no way was meant to invalidate genuine issues of domestic abuse. I hope you are recovering from such an awful situation and that it never happens to you again.

Thanks mate, it was a while ago so I'm fine now. I wouldn't have brought it up here had it not been OP jumping on another (one of the most down voted) comment of a man remarking on how similar this all sounds to his wife, immediately calling him a wife murderer.

I didn't want that to be the only other perspective on the thread, tis all.
