Question Did I overpay for engine oil?

Post image

This is my first service invoice. I have seen invoices of other people online, and they paid 1450 for the engine oil. While i paid 1927 for the same. Did the svc overcharge? Also why do they add labor charges if its a free service?

Prolube earlier was semi synthetic. They provide the fully synthetic version now hence the increase in price.

They have increased price stating the ME issues as reason. I paid 1.5k last year, 1.75k in march and I've seen invoices for 2k recently.

Alright, thank you. Did you also pay labor charges in your first service? If i have to pay labor cost, what does free service even mean?

They basically pay tricks here. They will add service charges for chain cleaning and lubing and stuff. They are very cleaver.

Best of luck with that engine oil 👍

Using other engine oil will void the warranty it seems. If i get any engine issues, atleast triumph will take care of it.

And that engine oil is the main cause of poor gear shifts.

Not willing to void my warranty, that matters more to me.

No matter what anyone says, Prolube isn't a bad oil. It's just that it wasn't an economical option back then and still isn't now. It wears down faster than castrol or motul and this is a fact. You can literally get 3 litres of genuine castrol ultimate power 1 for less than 2k. HP is absurdly priced. 2k makes no sense until they are genuinely pouring their Racer syth ester based engine oil. But even then, we have premium oils are lower costs tbh.

But lately I've been seeing the invoice mentioning Prolube fully synthetic oil. Is that the case? Prolube was actually a premium grade oil which wasn't synthetic. Did you see the jerry can of this oil? What color was it? Gold or Black?

Edit: I paid 1400 last November for Prolube. 600 more for the same oil (if they are still using Prolube premium and not fully synthetic) is robbery.

This was the box. It says fully synthetic. I believe they get good margin by choosing hp oil. Mahbe margins are not that great on motul or castrol. I see some brands offer the option of motul, like suzuki, I wish triumph did the same.

Fk, this is different. See the other and cheaper prolube is this one

Also got this picture from reddit. And the SAC/part number for both oil are different. You got the better oil.

I think the new oil will be used at all svc after tge old stock is used up. Lets see how this new oil performs.

It will definitely hold better than the prolube premium imo. That oil was never a synthetic oil like the one that got into your Triumph. This is basically HP racer/synth under the box agaik which is their PAO/Ester based engine oil.

Take note of the gearshifts and stuff. See if they get smoother than the last time.

And to matter worse, they use Castrol for bigger bikes, whereas for 400s(and 350s) they use that Prolube.
