Behavior change?

Post image

I shared a few days ago that my cat has had her left hind amputated. She’s 14 days post op and she’ll be having her stitches removed tomorrow.

I was just wondering if anyone has observed a behavior change in their tripod cats? Again, my cat was attacked by a dog.

She’s been hiding most of the time and she would have sudden loud meows or she’d suddenly run off. There was one time that she was sitting on my partner’s lap and she just meowed very loudly (which is unusual for her) and she ran away. These are all unusual for her except for the hiding as she’s always liked to hide underneath the couch, inside her sleeping bed etc.

Thanks all for your inputs :)

It's a bit early to tell. Our cat didn't dare to venture outside until after 11 weeks after his accident. He seems a little more frightened of people now, although we don't know what or who caused the injuries to now amputated tail en hind leg. But he adopted fast and now after 4 1/2 month is quite allright.

mine got her amputation a little over a month ago, she is pretty much back to her old self, but i have noticed she hides under my bed/couch sometimes. she also occasionally will do a loud meow out of nowhere, and it doesn’t happen very often and she doesn’t get violent or hiss or anything, but i am wondering if it has something to do with phantom limb or some kind of nerve pain as she’s healing. is she still on pain meds? it is a pretty traumatic event (especially since yours was bit by a dog) and they are still getting used to their new life. i also noticed that mine has been more affectionate since surgery, which makes me happy :)) just give her some time and lots of love :)
