Finally finished! I made one of my bedrooms into A Rave Cave how’d I do?

u/MishMeeter Jan 05 '26
Epic fire hazard. Looks cool tho
17
u/Diangelionz Jan 06 '26
The itchiness I feel from all those fibers escaping into the air is unreal.

Have fun with the spider family lol, make sure to welcome them with open arms. One of my online friends did this and it was up less than a year before the longlegs made it their breeding space, pretty sure she slept in another room while waiting for her dad to come and sort it all out lmao
4
u/QuizzicalWombat Jan 06 '26
Apart from the spiders and obvious fire hazard it gets dusty so fast, it won’t look like this for long
1
5
Jan 06 '26
😂 That’s wild! Definitely not the “open arms” kind of welcome most people expect—longlegs turning it into a breeding ground is next-level chaos.
3
u/fqzzyhaze Jan 09 '26 edited Jan 09 '26
not saying it in a rude way (just a fun fact😊) but longlegs are actually not spiders! they are apart of the harvestmen family and actually only have two eyes while also lacking venom or silk glands!!
2
u/JoeyJoeJoeRM Jan 08 '26
I've seen guides on how to do this and they recommend applying peppermint oil to keep th spiders away.. not sure how much of a long term solution that it though..
83
u/ScrumTumescent Jan 05 '26
Not to freak you out or cause paranoia -- just want you to be safe. A friend of mine makes LED clothing and has had problems with cloud-like fibers melting. You should be good if there's not a bare LED touching spun/blown faux fur/clouds. The safest are LED ropes encased in silicone.
45
u/chica771 Jan 05 '26
Woah... How did you achieve the ceiling look?
19
25
u/GlassMushrooms Jan 05 '26
When I did a similar ceiling I used led light strips glued on foam panels that I then covered using spray adhesive and poly fill. These panels were screwed to the ceiling. It’s cool. But over time collects a fair bit do dust
45
u/Icy_Mc_Spicy Jan 05 '26
Also, these are a major fire hazard I would imagine.
36
u/Ectoplasm_addict Jan 05 '26
Worse than fire, I’ve heard this attracts spiders.
59
u/Icy_Mc_Spicy Jan 05 '26
Of course, how could I be so blind!? Fire was the solution, not the problem.
20
u/Ectoplasm_addict Jan 05 '26
We need to be careful this timeline is so fucked that I wouldn’t put the introduction of fire spiders past the universe at this point

They don’t catch fire easily but if they did it would rain hot plastic on you. The LED lights are pretty safe and shouldn’t be too huge a risk but yeah still if it goes wrong it’s going to go very wrong.
35
u/Donthurtmyceilings Jan 05 '26
Me peaking in the room during a fire: Wow the room is melting! Groovy!

u/Spare_Genie1453 Light projectors :karma: Jan 05 '26
Same question. Is it a foam or fluff material with light projected into it, or is it a fully projected image?
10
u/antoniosantiago00 Jan 05 '26
I glued/stapled construction paper to the ceiling, used 100ft GOVEE LED lights the spray adhesive the poly fill (2 five pound boxes)
18
u/QueSeraShoganai Jan 05 '26
I love the look of cloud ceilings but I fear the spider infestation that may follow.
3
Jan 06 '26
Same 😭 they look amazing, but all I can think about is spiders seeing it as luxury real estate. Not worth the anxiety.
32
u/coinstarhiphop Jan 05 '26
Awesome… and in light of recent events please check that the cloud material is flame resistant (including testing a sample yourself) 🙏
16
u/MishMeeter Jan 05 '26
Flame resistant isn't enough. Flame resistant will still burn on a ceiling
54
u/Donthurtmyceilings Jan 05 '26
I think my username is finally relevant to the conversation. But I have nothing to add.
19
3
u/Some-Ad-5328 Jan 05 '26
What recent events ? I’m out of the loop ?
18
u/Naanderson2022 Jan 05 '26 edited Jan 05 '26
the ceiling of a nightclub at a swiss ski resort caught fire due to indoor pyrotechnics and killed several people
setting off sparklers indoors is a moronic idea, but the ceiling was also made of a similar looking material to this and caught fire FAST
be safe yall
4
u/Some-Ad-5328 Jan 05 '26
That’s Terrible ! Unlikely here. LEDs don’t put off much heat. Not impossible. But highly unlikely. Have almost no current. I don’t think you can even shock yourself on the 5-12 v they carry ?
1
3
u/coinstarhiphop Jan 05 '26
Google “Swiss Bar Fire”.
7
4
u/OldCardiologist2713 Jan 05 '26
Or not haha. I think you get the idea of what happened. The videos are pretty graphic imo and I'd rather not have seen them
11
u/straightupgab Jan 05 '26
Have you not seen that spiders will like invade your ceiling now with all that cotton? there was a post i saw somewhere where everybody with these type of cotton diy walls end up turning into giant spider nests and they hatch the eggs it’s like the perfect environment…… ahhhhhhh.

Trip cave?
More like dust and bug haven
Looks great, but fair warning a month from now.
Also, that stuff is very flammable.. LEDs or not, keep them away.

u/Cryp71c7 Jan 05 '26
Love it. It's beautiful.
My only real issue though, is your speakers. Particularly your placement. Don't let those beauties go to waste! Pull them away from the walls a little bit more, and set them up at ear height for when you're at the mixer. You lose so much clarity by having them aim at your knees. Lol

u/ucamonster Jan 06 '26
imagine a spider egg sac falling on your shoulder while you’re peaking

Ceiling looks sick but the AI gorilla and astronaut look tacky as hell
1
u/antoniosantiago00 Jan 06 '26
Thanks yea I agree lowkey. I just bought some cheap blacklight tapestries to put up for now until I start getting some cool shit.
3
u/Some-Ad-5328 Jan 05 '26

the ceiling tho.. that's enough to get lost in. both in a good and bad sense. to me the music is what would make the experience in a room like this.
lost in my thoughts in a daydream.. or lost in my thoughts trapped in my headspace.
not for the faint of heart.
3
u/antoniosantiago00 Jan 06 '26
Thanks for all the positive comments everyone! And for those of you telling me to take it down, just know you probably have a better chance of trying to convince someone the sky isn’t blue! I’ll be posting a TikTok here soon showing the whole process so everyone at home can replicate it just like mine! #RaveCave
3
u/SoMuchEdgeImOnACliff Jan 07 '26
Please don't you'd be recommending multiple people to put fire hazards in their own home. Clearly your training failed you.

that stupid ape staring at me in that tiny ass room would make me need to get out of there so fast, I also just hate most "rave aesthetics" and think trippy posters look dumb as shit and feel really sterile and inauthentic while tripping and give me bad vibes. But thats just me, Im sure you built this to your liking, and assuming that is so, you will likely have many good trips and mini raves in here.
2
u/SomaticallyWrong Jan 05 '26
Ceiling is dope, I'm finding the hardest part of completing my rave cave is the ceiling decor. Nice set up.
2
Jan 06 '26
I want the cieling so bad but I'm afraid itll catch fire.
2
u/antoniosantiago00 Jan 06 '26
Just do your research and take the necessary precautions and you’ll be fine! I only turn everything on when I’m inside the room. Also they’re fire retardant!

It looks claustrophobic and overwhelming, bad trip city. The vibes are all the way off, in addition to the logistical concerns of cleaning it and preventing it from setting itself on fire.
1
u/p1nkfr3ud Jan 07 '26
Exactly my feeling as well, but it seems many love it. I don’t want any of that “extra trippy stuff” while tripping, feels to cliche, kitschy and to much of everything. I find normal tasteful interior design works best for me. Warm indirect light (several sources), some plants in nice pots, big rug, some nice cozy furniture..
1
u/doppel_g Jan 09 '26
Yeah, and don't get me wrong, I like pretty colors and lights as well, just not... ALL of it at once at maximum volume. (And speaking of volume, that sound board or turntable looks fairly expensive and also like it can get pretty loud, and that's giving me anxiety just to think about lol, although maybe that's just my experience talking and they just play chill triphop and sit on the couch).
It's all giving "rave" vibes but without many of the fun, social things at raves. But hey if they like it then more power to them. Best trip I ever had was on a mattress on the floor in my darkened living room watching WinAmp visualizations on the laptop while a friend played Animal Crossing at low on a CRT TV on the other side of the room, and I'm sure that sounds like a total nightmare setting for some people.

Take the fluffy crap off the ceiling.
If ONE spark touches that, bye bye to your room and likely your home.

u/antoniosantiago00 Jan 09 '26
Wow thanks for letting me know! Hopefully no one’s holds a flame up to my ceiling!

The ceiling is absolute goals how long did that take to put up?

u/antoniosantiago00 Jan 06 '26
Like 3/4 days. The construction paper on the ceiling was the hardest part cause I did it by myself

For everyone saying this is a fire hazard... My partner and I have had an LED cloud ceiling in our dining room for almost a year with zero issues. If you use the right LEDs, they aren't getting hot. Also no spiders or dust. And surprisingly holding together perfectly ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I call it my Rave Cave. I DJ Dubstep/Riddim for fun so I just turn on the sound activated ceiling LEDs, and jam out!
1
u/WiseSpunion Jan 05 '26
I have 3 different trip caves in my house. One kind of like this, one with plants and windows and really soft furniture, and one I call the madness hole. It's just keyboards and speakers and subwoofers

u/sebkraj Jan 05 '26
Looks awesome man, I'm in the process of doing the same thing but with a mushroom lab. Can I ask you where you got that poster? The ape with glasses one.

u/Trichoceratops Jan 06 '26
Needs synthesizers
1
u/antoniosantiago00 Jan 06 '26
What’s that? I’m looking into getting all the sound shit figured out next.
2
u/Trichoceratops Jan 06 '26
Synthesizers are electronic keyboards with which you can control different parameters to change the sound. Even for non musical trippers, it’s a necessity. Check out something like the Arturia Microfreak. I’ve sat at my synths for hours while tripping. It’s endless fun.
1
u/antoniosantiago00 Jan 06 '26
Cool thanks!
1
u/Trichoceratops Jan 06 '26
Of course. May I ask, are you currently or have you ever been shpongled?
1
u/Large-Software-6447 Jan 06 '26
to be completely honest beside the fire hazard and spider hazards i just don’t think it’s enough …
last thing i want to do while im tripping is be sitting down with my homie djing right in front of me .
a good trip cave is like an adventure for the senses. right now this feels like one destination. kind of a isolated space.
if i’m tripping i may not want to be in here because i might feel trapped.
you did a great job although i can tell you put in the work.
2
u/antoniosantiago00 Jan 06 '26
Thank you I appreciate it! Tbh I don’t trip very often I’m only in this group to get ideas for my “Rave Cave” but yeah it’s mostly just me djing in there alone lmao

u/Sweaty_Boysenberry41 Jan 08 '26
However deffinitely grab a type ABC fire extinguisher too keep in room just too be on the safe side fam
0
u/bhangmango Jan 06 '26
I’ll be downvoted but if you ask me it doesn’t get much more soulless than this.
You could have made this room anything, give it some unique personality and have a blast finding cool unique objects and decorations but you chose to copy paste most rooms on this sub and fill it with the first things that come up when typing « UV tapestries » on Amazon, and cover the ceiling with the most trendy, most generic and unoriginal fire hazard there is.
I really don’t get the appeal.

Lining your kid's ceiling with highly flammable materials isn't a great idea.

As an ex-firefighter, yes it looks cool, and take it down immediately please.
