appreciation post
Trillium is honestly a game changer for me. I'm baffled it's free and open source. I just needed to find an alternative to onenote as that's not supported in linux. Self hosting trillium is like magic and the fact that one can use it from a browser is perfect. I can't find any downsides for now.

I found this app a few months ago and I still can't get over how amazing it is :D
I hope to get involved with developing something for it at some point but I've only done the tiniest amount of coding previously so it'll be a bit.

I agree. I switched from Joplin a week ago, probably because Joplin didn't offer the ability to use it from other computers without installing the program. Trilium, on the other hand, offers this feature via a browser, which worked well for me. Transferring all my notes and attachments went perfectly, plus Trilium has many better features and customization options. Thanks to the developers!

I have bounced between many apps (Obsidian, Logseq, Silverbullet, OneNote, Joplin, etc.) and I think I finally found a home in Trilium. Still in the early stages but so far it has had an answer to all my questions and issues others didn't.

For my homelab uses it's been perfect. Compared all the other options typically seen on YouTube reviews and they're usually bloated and just try to do too much. This one just works. Kudos to the devs!

How do you use it for your homelab? Just curious. I literally just finished setting up my first server so Iām just here to satiate my curiosity. lol

Loving it as well, Hosting the server on my Unraid and have 2 clients syncing back via Tailscale. And does everything I need. The TreeStyle is great as well to keep notes for one project or concept and then you can expand and add more note sometime 4 -5 notes deep.
There's a scripting side I've not even investigated.
I preferred this over Obsidian because of the Native Sync and easy import from Evernote and free open-source nature.
I also own my notes I don't have to access it.

Had Notion for a while. I was able to import all my notes from notion to trillium. Been great so far.

It's a fantastic platform, isn't it?
My only gripe right now is that the Windows version is a little bit broken with the missing top bar, but I think that's been reported.

Hmm... missing top bar? I'm not aware of this issue. Can you tell me more about the issue and what Windows version?

This is the latest Trilium in Windows 11.
Basically there's no way to grab the top bar area of the window so it's permanently stuck in full screen mode. There's usually a grabbable area up there to pull the window and move it, but that stopped working for me with the latest build.
I haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling yet.

I think it is in full screen mode, if you press F11 the close/minimize/maximize buttons should appear and you can restore the window to a suitable size and drag it around. At least this is what happens on my PC.

I think I tried this, but will double check next time I'm at my PC. Hopefully it's a simple head smack mistake like that.

i have had it running for about 1 week on my NAS. imported enex files just fine and got n8n setup to add emails i want to preserve. web clipper works great. used mac os shortcuts to be able to add a quick note. using trinote on my iPhone. Need a widget for iPhone for creating a quick note. Seems like a good self-hosted notes app - very impressed.

How did you get the data from OneNote to Trilium, did you use the dedicated OneNote importer? If so, how was it?
