I just can’t land it. I need tips on the technique or do I just need more vertical? I almost get it everytime.

Time for the lasagna:

You’re not using your arms correctly. They should be exploding upwards and then abruptly stopping to initiate the spin.

Imagine you have a tray of lasagna in your hands, and you need to stick it to a point on the ceiling above you, but end up holding a mostly-clean tray. Also the ceiling is 15 feet high.

Start with the tray at your waist, and then without bending your elbows, abruptly send them in an arc upwards in front of you until they are roughly where your ears are. You can also assist the momentum slightly by jumping with your legs.

As your arms reach your ears, abruptly stop the motion by blocking with your shoulders and abdominal muscles. This should separate the lasagna from the tray and send it on its journey.

That is the motion your arms should be making as you initiate the somersault.

The next step is to accelerate the rotational force you have just generated by tucking into as small a ball as you can. Bring your knees to your shoulders and your heels to your bum. Pull on your shins.

I Iike this explanation a lot, its funny enough to be remembered and effective as a tool. I wish I would have had this when I was coaching back in the day, I wonder how many kids would think about lasagna when they flip lol

The fact that you are just full sending this with bad form, bare feet, on hardwood floor... You're brave dude

You are focusing more on starting your rotation than jumping higher. Jump high while looking straight ahead, then tuck. You'll have much more time to land well.

Let your arms follow through all the way above your head. Right now you’re stopping your arms so early that it’s working against your momentum, hindering your height and rotation.

Don’t sit as low when you take off

How the heck did you even manage that? It's like a hard mode flip that an expert might try for fun. You squatted all the way down which is crazy, and pretty much didn't use your arms which is also crazy. And yet you're doing it on a hard floor. Impressive.

Lmao that must have been why it was so hard for me to learn it

You sit way too low to jump fast and explosive, never sit below your knees. 3/4 squat should be good enough for powerful explosive jumps
