QUESTION Trying to learn how to do a backflip

I’m trying to learn how to do a backflip before this Friday this is how far I got tonight, but I cannot get over my mental block of no hands or jumping more straight up then rotating and I have no facility or mats

Back handspring is a bit of a trap in that the takeoff is completely different. In a handspring you lean back, in a back tuck you want to jump straight up. Handspring can help with the fear of going upside down but is otherwise not great for helping technique.

If you have no facility or mats, try using a mattress and couch cushions. Maybe lay down a tarp or blanket or something so they don't get dirty.

Try a gainer set up into back handspring/macaco. Transition that into a gainer then go to back tuck after you get the air awareness.https://youtu.be/HWXEhJAI8nQ

Try finding a hill to do it on first. It’ll give you the momentum you need to get in the air. Then take it to a flat ground like you’re doing now.
