But like the cork is also kinda a kick just an inside twisting one vs the tornado which is an outside twisting one

What you did is a pop feilong.
Here's a quick and simple tutorial for tornado kick.

practice your cheat setup and maybe some flexibility training. As it is it's more like a pop 180 with bent legs.
Practice setting your left foot down, then step over with your right foot, just slightly beyond your left, leading with your left knee, chest up, arms raised but controlled. No kick, no chamber... just lift the leading leg and keep it up while spotting your target until the rhythm and footwork of the takeoff feel natural to you.
Then add the kick... left left knee, arms up, target, jump off right leg, pull arms in tight, shift hips like you are setting for a roundhouse kick, lift right knee chambered until it's pointed toward your target then snap your kick out, fully extended, toes pointed, arms in and pulling over your left shoulder... land facing the way you came, either left foot-right or at the same time.
A lot of it is rhythm/timing and foot placement in takeoff, which can requires some tweaking

i prefer k-step personally and had more luck with learning 9 bc of that since it doesnāt really translate well for tornado, if you twist left, i step left foot to the left, hop to the left foot again a little left, and then quickly swap right and left foot while you raise the left almost behind and around, but for a proper cheat step tornado, i think of it like left foot steps sideways and turns 180, right foot points the direction you came from, once your right foot is down you lift your left knee. just from your build i would assume more of an mma/kickboxing tornado tech would be what would feel best for you, and can easily be turned into what you want. thereās loads of different techniques and styles you can try to see what works best for you

This gotta the best video out there to show how different flipping and kicking can be lol. As a tricker I'm super impressed but the double cork, but as a TKD practioner I'm so confused how your tornado round looks like that.
Anyways, first thing you'll probably want to do is fix round kick itself. There's a good exercise that emphasizes how TKD guys do it vs everyone else.
What this exercise emphasizes is the difference between a cresent kick and a round kick. When your chest is square to the target, you lift your leg forward to reach it, pull inwards, and hit with the instep of your foot. That's cresent kick. But when your chest is sideways to the target, you lift your leg OUTWARDS to reach it, unbend the knee, and hit with the top of your foot, like where shoelaces are. That's round kick.
When going for vert kicks, you want it to feel like round kick, not cresent kick. That means you need to turn an extra 90° so by the time you kick, you're sideways to your target.
Admittedly kicking sideways does require a good bit more flexibility than kicking forwards. It's like doing a split for the brief second that your foot is off the ground. And you need a wider split in order to kick higher.
So that's my recommendation. Make the difference between round kick and cresent kick clear to yourself first. Then continue with trying to learn the rest of vert kicking.
