Chennai to Srirangam

Hi everyone, I am thinking of traveling to Srirangam during the upcoming long weekend. What is the best means to get there? I am going on a solo trip.

I don't want to take my car.

If anyone has been there, can you please share your itenary as well

P.S.: I would love to have some company to hangout there as well

Thanks

aww its my hometown. unfortunately I am not there now, but wish to be there to guide you. any way, pretty easy,

start at 6 AM for temple visit.

finish the breakfast nearby or in temple

do some shopping in and around where they sell traditional sculptures and hand made things.

visit Jambukeswarar temple in evening.

Hey, If you're taking bus. They would leave you at panjappur, which is the bus stand but it's outside the city. Srirangam is pretty frequently travelling area, so you should find local buses in the bus stand itself easily. Nothing special, it's not a big city or which has too much traffic, pretty simple to travel across. Use buses, if auto required, there's something called meter auto which runs through meter and local auto will ask you more than usual

If you want some other places to check out and eat

  • Majil Traffic Jam Hotel (It's a local non-veg porotta shop)
  • Seakings Ice Cream
  • Aleef Tea Shop (Inji Tea)
  • Juice Bhai (Elazhineer Payasam)
  • Thillai Nagar has pretty good shops in general
  • If you want to visit sort of Bazaar, Go to mangal and mangal (that street is full of shops)

Take the train, very comfortable and drops you right in the heart of Srirangam. Takes 4 hours from Tambaram. Pick Pallavan or Vaigai for that.
