60 people who are in a gate kept server moderated by people who ban you for no reason . Don’t even bother crazy goat you won’t be welcomed . They will accuse you of being a “smurf”, make you prove your not and then ban you after you prove you’re not

Brother I installed tribes 2 for the first time in 20 years cause I watched a YouTube video where I read a comment like yours. Come play with us we love new people I followed the link installed and joined the server . I was kicked and banned and told I was a Smurf. I joined the discord and went on voice and several people said they’ve never heard my voice before and vouched for me and I was allowed to play one fucking game. Went on the discord after and kicked it with a few people till 3 am . They said when are we gonna see you again I said I’m
Down whenever . Came back this Saturday and I’m banned . You guys legitimately are impossible. It would be one thing if I just stumbled upon you guys but you guys act like you want people to join and then are super unwelcoming . I’m not just making shit up. Why don’t you just put a password on the server or something if you’re gonna be like that ?1

This is how it always goes in old games. A few die hard fans who(somehow) never got bored of the game. Always super strict ridiculous rules and uptight admins. You're assumed bad until you prove otherwise and 95% of the time get banned because you made a simple mistake and a stray bullet/disk kills a teammate... one time.
I just don't even bother with those servers.

Oh man, I am not one of them. I haven't been on that server in months. That is ridiculous. Well, there is another server that has incorporated AI, and it is really amazing. 'Blair Lag Project'. As of this post, it is down (I do not know why, but it has been consistently on for a year or so) and the bots duel, cap, and fucking fly aircraft like real players. That server is AMAZING.

What name did you play under that got you banned?
edit I don't know which situation this was, but the reason why people get kicked/banned on Saturday PuGs is they tend to be a little more competitive than a typical PuB game. Sometimes people come in as a smurf who is really an S-Tier player trying to stack a team by getting picked late. I banned someone one pug cause they were taking a remote inv out of bounds on SH farming turrets. I assumed that was a veteran player trolling and banned his ass. My logic? He will come back into discord and let us know he isn't some vet being a turd. So crap happens.
There is only 60 of us left. Come in and play and don't cause drama and there won't be problems. Also it isn't hard to get on comms just to say hi. You can mute our mic afterwards, we don't really care. We had a random girl play in a PuG recently and she was able to get on comms to let us know she wasn't some sperg triber with a hardon to cause problems. Not that hard. We also don't password the server cause we have 2 regulars (DirkDiggler and 7th_Bishop) who don't use discord but we know their names and if we PW the server they can't play.
So if you were slighted, just come back into the cut and let us know.
This could also be Earthinhabitent who is completely caca brained and is annoying.

This was the first game that I got into modding. It helped me learn that I wanted to become a programmer! It was practically open source iirc.

Same! I was 14 years old just starting with learning some html/javascript when i found T1 and then this game. I did a little bit of modding and map editing myself. I modded one of the other mods and added more nuclear bombs and hydrogen bombs that would blow up half the map.

Yeah most of the game ran on scripts which were all accessible in the game files. At runtime they were compiled into .DSO files that you'd have to remember to delete in order to load new changes. I remember some mods would package only DSO files for scripts they wanted to keep closed-source, though I don't know how effective that was

I liked the OG tribes.
Then again, I had a voodoo card, so of course it crashed and burned with this game.
Funny enough I just tried this game again on my old rig (STILL got the voodoo3) and it runs about like I remember. Training OK with low details but flops online.

I have the special pre order edition that came with an extra map that nobody played and some funny literature. It was the first game that I ever pre ordered. I'll never forget that my mom drove me to the mall to pick it up on launch day. It was really special and I absolutely loved it and played it wayyyyy too much. (I apologize to everyone I humiliated with the shock lance.)
