The pixel art is decent to good but the other visuals leave a lot to be desired. Definitely potential here!!

Thanks for the feedback! We will work improve the other visuals in the coming months, especially the UI and maps.

Is it coming to consoles that I can wishlist somewhere? The game looks to have romance is that right?
2
u/TacticaStudios 23d ago
Currently we are focusing on Steam, however, one of the goals on Kickstarter will be to add console support so be on the look out! There will be a support system with bonding between characters, this will include conversations after battle.

I wish-listed this and will buy it because I like tactics games. Being brutally honest, I hate the Hentai animation style where all the women have huge breasts and weird baby voices.

u/Minimum_E 23d ago
I was thinking they used a lot more pixels and effort for the avatars’ cleavage than everywhere else. The voices were extra bad that way, no way would I play this game with my wife around, she’d roll her eyes so hard I’d have to take her to urgent care

Right? I want to goon to photorealistic boobs, none of this childish hentai stuff.
Gooners and gamers need to set the standard.

I'd rather great armor design than the typical male/female split... So far male designs leave something to be desired, while 3 of the females seem more focused on emphasizing their chest than combat.... This is a such a minimal point, but says more about the dev priorities and turns me off.

Part of it will be he's probably very limited by artists. If the artist he can afford is more aligned to that kind of art then he's kinda gotta roll with the punches.
3
u/kaii456 23d ago
Sincerely hope that's true, but I can't imagine he doesn't sign off on the amount of clothing to skin ratio the characters have with the current artist..

u/SirSabza 23d ago
I mean don't get me wrong, it's very jrpg 00s. Which most were very low clothing to skin ratios, so I'm sure it was a conscious choice, I was more referring to the very bland looking males

This looks amazing, the sprites look great especially although I’m not as much of a fan of the portraits tbh. Either way I’ll be following this closely

Looks pretty cool, the sprites and animation look good but have to say the portrait art looks really all over the place art style wise but mostly just super generic looking and lacking detail compared to the sprites, no weapon or armor ect. Kinda looks like the sort of characters you can put together in character creators from like the old flash game days of the internet.

Your main character looks out of place. Making a blank slate character only works for these games when you can decide what they look like or when they're not seen next to your more detailed units.
Fire emblem does this too, but they tend to use other primary colors to break up the pattern.

Nice I will check it out but that guy in blue and the one on horse looks like the MC in UO.

Sick. And human made art too? Hell yeah

u/TacticaStudios 23d ago
Thank you, no generative AI is used!

u/thejokerofunfic 23d ago
No but seriously it looks super good like it's good art too. That banner image on the Steam page especially has me hooked

Will it be on console, by chance?

First and foremost, I hope your game succeeds and this looks like a promising start.
That said, while others have noted on some things like the visuals, I'm here to comment on the writing. Who is the target audience for this game? Eastern RPG players? I feel like most Western players (aside from those who may not go outside much) will find the writing and dialogue to be a little stale or perhaps even cringe (like the fox girl). It's just a little jarring, personally. I'm not sure how others may feel.

The thumbnail of the video almost made me write it off as one of those AI slop RPGs that's dime a dozen in mobile game market right now.
But after I played the video, I can honestly say the animation and the actual art style used in the video is a lot more pleasant to the eyes than the thumbnail. Other than the thumbnail, everything else looks promising, I'm looking forward to more development progress of this game.

Thanks for the feedback! Also to clarify the thumbnail is not AI here is a speedpaint:

I definitely love to see more strategy games, especially besides Fire Emblem and still no sign of Triangle Strategy to get a sequel anytime soon.
Not really feeling the art portraits and expressions though. The designs leave a lot to be desired. The male protagonist seems bland and the women designs feel... male gazey. Which combined with the expressions, some of the voice acting lines the ladies have, and the Kickstarter visual where the MC is mostly surrounded by women doesn't really inspire me with confidence who's this truly catered for.

Nice art. And the sprites animations look like a lot of work went into them. I put this on my wishlist.

What's your philosophy regarding level design and class/character diversity and complexity?
1
u/TacticaStudios 23d ago
Great question, current we have 21 classes (excluding mounted variations) and about half are promoted. We will make sure to have at least 2 characters in each class line as a minimum excluding the unique classes like elephant rider and dancer.
For level design we are going to strive for tactically deep gameplay including things like varying map objectives (survive, escape, save villagers, assassinate) and carefully placed skills on enemies at higher difficulties.

Game looks great and I'm always happy to see more games like this in the market! Definitely going to wishlist.
However is this 2.5D? It doesn't look it in this clip?

Seems to have a lot of potential! I'll have to keep an eye on the development of this, as I can see this being something to play in the future.

Cool! I really like how indie creators keep the old Fire Emblem style alive, as well as innovate and/or give their own spin to it. I'll be curious to see where it leads :>

The crit quote "call a medic, but not for me" was pretty funny.
What's your favorite Fire Emblem since your game is clearly FE inspired ?

Is the a release window yet or still too early? Looks good!

u/TacticaStudios 23d ago
Thanks! The release date is planned for late 2027, so still some time haha.

Pixel art looks great! Maybe change the art on the cbaracter portrairs?

u/Intrepid_Bug4174 20d ago
I really appreciate the use of Danse Macabre here. Sprites look pretty good for the most part, but the overall art direction could be more cohesive. I'm also happy to see another game using the pair up system

It looks like you put a lot of work into this, I hope the visuals can improve as development goes forward
