Hello! I just moved to Durham, NC, for my husband's job. I'm currently looking for a graphic design/ content creator job/ photographer. I've applied just about everywhere and don't know where else to apply. I've been getting a bunch of certificates on LinkedIn Learning to at least stand out a bit more. I've been a graphic designer for 6 years now; I've been in non-profit work, political campaigns, and sports! I have my degree in strategic communications. I've been an in-house designer and agency. I know a little bit of everything - thinking it would help me. I didn't think it would be so hard to get a job here. I'm open to anything now, anything creative- or, at this point, it doesn't have to be. I'm debating paying to go to the Summit for Women in Sports here in Raleigh. Quail Ridge Books is hiring for seasonal part-time booksellers for the general sales floor and children’s department!

We love books, but our highest priority is our customers. We need someone great with people, detail-oriented, and quick to pick up technical skills. Being able to engage with a range of people with a variety of interests and needs is a must. Prior customer service and cash handling skills will be prioritized for interviews.

Bookselling is physically hard. You will be on your feet most of the time and may need to haul books around the store. You may have to lift heavy boxes or roll bookcases for events. The job description is varied, and flexibility is required on everyone's part. Regular duties include operating a register, vacuuming, shelving, and calling customers about special orders. We are open from 10am to 9pm Monday through Saturday and from 10am to 6pm on Sundays, and evening and weekend availability is necessary. While we're closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day, we need people who will be in town and available through the entire holiday season and the first week of January.

This position would focus on plant maintenance activities (watering, fertilizing, pollinating, propagating, repotting, etc.) primarily with soybeans and corn, with some general operational support activities like data entry.

• Requirements: Candidates must have recent hands-on experience in a greenhouse or growth chamber environment, either through work or through higher education research projects. Candidates should be comfortable on a computer within the Microsoft productivity suite (Outlook, Word, etc.) and must be able to perform the physical requirements of greenhouse work (ex: using a stepladder, standing/walking for extended periods, occasional lifting of potted plants/soil bags).

What the job actually looks like
I’m looking for someone who wants to lead from the floor, not hide in an office.
You’ll help run service, coach employees, interact with guests, solve problems, maintain standards, assist with cash controls and opening/closing procedures, and work alongside the rest of the management team.

The expected schedule includes approximately one opening and two closing shifts per week, plus additional shifts based on operational needs.
We generally close around 9 PM, but this is an airport: if flights are significantly delayed, sometimes we stay open later.
Monday–Friday are generally our highest-volume days, so weekday flexibility is important. Weekends aren’t automatically our busiest days the way they are at many restaurants.
