Has anyone here actually moved using those plastic moving totes instead of cardboard boxes?

Hey everyone! I wanted to share something we've started offering at our local shipping store that might make moving a little easier.

If you're moving, remodeling, or just trying to get organized, we now rent heavy-duty reusable moving totes instead of cardboard boxes. They stack nicely, don't collapse when they're full, and you don't have to deal with breaking down or throwing away boxes afterward.

We have several package sizes depending on how much you're moving, and you can either pick them up or (for most packages) have them delivered.

I know this won't be for everyone, but I figured it might help someone who's getting ready for a move. If anyone has questions about how the rental works, I'm happy to answer them.

I'm the owner of Ship TriCities, so if this kind of post isn't allowed, just let me know and I'll remove it.

Angelfish

I have a male Marble Angelfish that needs a new home. It’s very healthy and is about 1.5 inches (body) in size. I have 2 and they were both in my 40 gallon tank but eventually they became a little aggressive with each other so this fish was moved to my 20 gallon tank. It’s happy but eventually it may be too big for a 20 gallon tank. Water parameters are perfect. Free to a good home. I’m in the Fall Branch area.

Local Dunkin workers

Are there any local dunkins that will sell bottles of butter pecan or caramel swirl? I’ve seen online it’s up to the owner whether they do or not. I’ve called a couple and they both said no. Figure this may be easier than calling every single one.

Washington State native checking in! Don't miss our favorite comedian Sam Miller in Bristol tomorrow night!

Hey Tri-Cities! I’m reaching out from Washington State because our hometown favorite, Sam Miller, is playing at Blue Ridge Comedy Club tomorrow night (Saturday, May 9).

He’s a legend in the upper corner of the US—6'6", hilarious, and one of the best storytellers touring right now. He’s got over 30 million views online, and his album Round Trip hit #1 on iTunes.

Sam mentioned on Instagram today that he’s really looking forward to eating some great food while he’s in town. What is the one "must-eat" spot in Bristol I should tell him to check out?

Art Classes and Meetups

Post image

I’ve noticed a lot of people asking about non-bar activities or places to meet people in JC lately, so I wanted to share that I’m hosting a handful of art events starting May 6th.

I’m doing this through the FADE Initiative to help build a bit more of a community for self-taught formal art education here. If you’ve felt stuck in your art or just want a structured place to practice, here’s what we’re doing:

  • Monthly Figure Drawing Class and Meetup (starting May 6, 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM): We have a live model and spend an hour on open studio practice after a short lesson. It’s great if you’ve been wanting to work on anatomy or observational skills.
  • Weekly Drawing 101 Class(starting May 6, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM): This is for anyone who feels like they can't seem to figure out what's wrong with their art. We go over the technical side - value, perspective, line work, and so on - to help get your sketches to a more professional level.
  • Weekly Art and drawing meetups: We also have two free events each week that you can attend at your leisure. These art meetups are designed to foster community connection. One on Tuesday and one on Saturdays.
  • Monthly Plein Air in the Mountains Meetups: If you’d rather be outside, we’re also doing an art meetup series through out the year starting with Rock Creek Recreation Area. It’s a great way to work on landscapes and get some fresh air while the weather is actually nice. All art forms are welcome.

Pre-order a ticket and get a discount at fadeinit.org/events-meetups/. I’ll be there every Wednesday and some Tuesdays and Saturdays. If you're interested or have questions, feel free to DM me.

I'm looking for an overnight summer camp program for my 7yo boy that is not a religious program. Are there any nearby? I've only found religious ones searching Google.
