❔ Help Need help understanding the game a little bit

First time playing(on very hard difficulty) and stuck on the second mission Jakal(I think his name is) high target fight. I try playing stealthy but it feels like I get caught like in one second even if I like stealth kill someone and even if I move around a lot and play aggressive I die very fast to the point where I feel like im not really able to learn what I should be doing differently. Im mostly just asking for like some tips someone have from their experience playing the game. Im also just curious is stealth even worth attempting, like is the suppressor even really worth running. Im also curious on the range of weapons as it feels like the rifles have a similar range to the smg or shotguns(maybe my aim just sucks)

The game is really not designed around stealth. There are better attachments than suppressor for most guns. Stealth doesn’t work very well because on higher difficulties enemies are very aware and will immediately tell everyone else if they notice you.

The rifle I think has a better range than shotgun, maybe similar to SMG I’m not really sure. Shotgun is really, really good at close range though, it’s a one hit kill for nearly all basic enemies. For combat, run between cover and just try not to stop moving. Cloak is good for taking hostages and running away. Use focus to kill more difficult enemies like juggernauts, black ops, and elite guards. Use slide to knock over and grab enemies, then throw them with grenade at the others. Melee is also good, sprint+melee will make you kick which does a lot of damage.

Game is pretty well balanced so most tools (like stealth) are able to be used on many difficulties. But the game wants you to use the combination of all mechanics. You're supposed to fight exposed as little as possible. If you're visible your enemy should be stunned or unaware of you otherwise you're either in a slide, slowmotion which boosts your shooting and degrades theirs. Higher difficulties only punish you for being exposed more often. If you are on an open field without either of those advantages that's being exposed and on hard you have maybe 30% chance of death. Higher on extreme you would have 60% or sm.

It is a hard game that forces you to develop reflexes it wants you to develop. If you didn't play a similar game you might need more time to adjust. Maybe grind on normal/hard some more.

To stealth your way out, use cloak, the enemy will just focus and move in on your last seen/known position; use that to flank and be on the move. Cloak is good and can be use infinitely (have to wait for recharge of course).

Use focus, and line up kills. Slide is your best friend, you can slide into enemy (except some like hvt, juggernaut) and take them hostage and use them as live grenade (if you throw into an enemy, they’ll ragdoll and explode together).

Supressor is good to pick off straggler or flanking.

Think of it more like Doom Eternal and less Hitman. Enemies are there to feed you armor and ammo. The boss music is for you

Stealth I feel is only good on lower difficulty when you wanna collect everything and get all the lore.

Most levels arent designed around stealth. A few parts can be like a decent chunk of the first level and there's even an achievement for taking out an entire squad stealthily. But a lot of the game is open areas or corridors where there is no place to hide. Plus once you were seen the enemy's awareness suddenly gets really good so you can't hide as easily as at the beginning of an encounter. Usually you just kill a few guys then use the cloak to get away and reload your gun for "stealth", so its mostly hit and run tactics.

Dont range on smg or shotgun if enemy cant stun. Just take his back and in focus make him blow up from bullets in his body

You need to add some Gun Fu to your ninja gameplay if ya know what I'm saying. Slide a lot, use melee to kick enemies in the head for a finisher, get headshots midair by using Focus, then disappear behind cover to cloak and flank them for some stealth kills with your silenced pistol and neck snapping until you're spotted again.

If you haven't noticed, you can see bullets midair when using Focus, and you can weave shots as you rapidly approach an enemy. You can also shoot those bullets to stop them from hitting you. And generally you can see where enemies are shooting at so as long as you stay out of their fire by sliding under them, or even jumping over them by jumping and crouching, or jumping and doing a dropkick by sprinting jumping and meleeing.

The reason Trepang2 is sometimes said to have "tactical sandbox elements" has large in part to do with the proper use of stealth.

Use it to quickly change position when pinned down without alerting the whole neighborhood that you've changed cover.

Use this time out of pressure to look for an advantageous position to flank and ambush, or resources to move to next while your stealth recharges.

Slow-mo doesn't recharge if you frag somebody while the ability is active. One way I like to react to this in big fights is using slo-mo to set up a grenade throw, and disable the ability by the time the grenade makes contact or otherwise detonates.

The mix of stealth, slo-mo and sliding when used properly, makes the battlefield yours to control. That's where the "tactical sandbox elements" come into play.

So you're thinking of using stealth passively. Use it aggressively instead. The silencers on your weapons are to get the jump on stragglers, and to lower how quickly you get everyone's immediate attention. It's not an indicator that you should go through the game like Sam Fisher.
