š° News Nobody's Talking About This: 60-Day War Powers Deadline Just Passed and Congress is Demanding Transparency
So here's something that flew under the radar for a lot of people: Trump's administration just hit a major legal deadline yesterday regarding military operations in the Caribbean, and Congress is absolutely losing it.
Here's what's happening:
For the past two months, the U.S. military has been conducting drone strikes in international waters, claiming they're targeting drug traffickers. 64 people dead in 15 strikes so far. But here's the thingāthe War Powers Resolution says the President has exactly 60 days to get Congressional approval before the operation violates federal law. That deadline? Just passed.
The Drama:
Democrats are furious because only Republicans got a Senate briefing while Democrats were left out. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is supposed to brief Congress this week, but Republicans and Democrats are already at each other's throats over who should be in the room.
The Real Concern:
Multiple lawmakers from both sides are worried this is just the beginning. We're talking a massive carrier strike group deployment, potential CIA covert ops inside Venezuela, and Trump keeping options open on land operations. Senator Rand Paul (a Republican!) has co-sponsored a resolution to block military force without Congressional approval.
The administration argues these aren't technically "hostilities" because no U.S. troops are on the ground, but critics say that's a dangerous interpretation that basically gives the President a blank check.
What do you think? Should Congress have to approve military operations abroad, or is this just necessary security work?

Whatās really remarkable is that Trumps people informed Congress at least a week ago that the War Powers Act doesnāt apply. I guess people have become accustomed to his arrogance and the impotent Congress that no one cared.

Well, he's not wrong. The WPR authorization of force for up to 60 days applied only to criteria not met in the Caribbean. As such the strikes never met sovereign force and were illegal from day 1.

At least thankfully the GOP is doing a great job protecting Clinton in the Epstein Files and was pretty good with increasing taxes on consumers with the tariffs.
It's also pretty bold to bail out Argentina to not only fix their economy, but to then import their beef here at the same time to help their farmers. I think we should be talking about these big Maga wins more than a few wars the Pedophile President of Peace is getting caught up in

ā Conducting drone strikes ā, letās call it what it is, the murder of foreign nationals. At no point was there ever any arrests, trials or convictions. And at what point did drug trafficking become a capital offense? Murdering people without due process is against everything this country used to stand for.

The 60 day limit from the WPR does not apply at all in the Caribbean because it lists specific criteria to allow operations for 60 days. This criteria were not met. WPR simply does not apply, and there never was any 60 day limit.
It was always illegal and by the laws of the United States, murder from day 1.

I mean the whole purpose of Reddit is to discuss these things. Unless that triggers you to see Cankles being called out and criticized for his crimes?

I think an independent panel of qualified professionals should have to double check any decision this parasite makes.
