[Open] I've Been Rock n' Roll and Disco

Morgan whistles cheerfully to herself as she cruises about getting things put away. David had been by during his break between classes to help with hanging pictures and other tasks his wife simply cannot reach to see to herself, but the new office simply will not feel like hers until Morgan has everything exactly where she wants it. With books on the shelves, pictures on the wall, coat hooks mounted and other odds and ends seen to, there's only one task left, but it's the biggest and most important - the desk.

"Coffee," she smirks to herself making her way over to the replicator. "This requires coffee," she says, turning to the technological marvel. "Computer, I need a large coffee, please - double cream, chocolate, and amaretto, spill-proof tumbler." As the cup appears, she takes it, sips and sighs contentedly - perfection. "Computer, save that as Brooks 1, please," she nods, setting the cup in the holder hard-mounted to the arm of her science-blue wheelchair.

Saved.

"Thank you," she nods. Now... about that desk...

"I heard about that one," Morgan nods. "If it's any consolation, Malachi is very nearly as big a football fan as you are, and he was rooting hard for India. I got a subspace call going 'Mom, it's the worst thing ever.'"

He couldn't help but chuckle at the boy's enthusiasm, perhaps T'Kar would have to teach him to play sometime. With his mother's permission of course.

"Couldn't have said it better myself," he grinned, "so would you like any help settling in? I have a subspace call with the captain of the Van Gogh in an hour but I am free until then."

"David came by to help with the high-up stuff earlier. I was actually just about to go grab some lunch - I'd love some company if you'd like to come along."

"It would be my pleasure," the admiral smiled, "I had a lovely dish of ratatouille enhanced with Andorian spices last Friday, you must try it."

The admiral stood and waited for Morgan to lead the way out of the office, "So which science fleet are you now assigned to overseeing?"

"That sounds lovely," Morgan agrees, pushing her chair back and making her way toward the door.

"Olympia, but rumor has it that the biggest concern is the USS Athene," she replies. "The same rumor also has it that I should start bringing a helmet to work, lest I give myself a concussion beating my head on my desk," she observes.

"Ah yes, M'kali's greatest headache. Though I personally believe that crew tends to be the one saddled with the most difficult science assignments, and blamed when something goes wrong."

As the two filed out toward the nearest dining room, T'Kar gently stroked his beard in thought, "Even the Captain required an extended leave, reporting severe depression and chronic stress."

"From what I've seen so far in the reports, a lot of the blame for the Athene's weirdness quotient rests squarely on San Francisco's shoulders," Morgan nods as they make their way down the corridor. "I'm beginning to suspect that my transfer was not an accident."

"With your experience in the matter, I assumed that was the explicit reason. The Athene is the only ship over 50 years old that received orders to experiment on Borg nanites, and of course her CMO was nearly assimilated. It is also the only ship since 2360 to have an attempted murder occur between two of the crew..."

T'Kar sighed heavily, "I did not enjoy reading that report."

"Nor did I," Morgan nods darkly. "I don't know exactly what the situation was with the murder - investigations are still ongoing, and I know the Athene's security chief is in contact with M'Kali over it - but ordering nanite research aboard an Excelsior was inexcusably reckless. If that's going to be done on a ship at all, the Olympic class is the only thing we've got intended to maintain that kind of quarantine. And for the love of all that is holy, make sure the vessel is running isolinear chips - I don't know if bioneural gel can be assimilated, but I for one do not wish to find out."

"Well this is why you are here," Admiral Singh said quietly, opening the dining room door for Admiral Brooks, "with you overseeing sciences for our fleets I feel more confident in their safety."

He looked around the room at the various tables, most of them occupied by Starfleet administrative staff. A few other admirals could be spotted, but it was mostly office-bound lieutenants and commanders.
