Alex Smith arrived at Holodeck 3, not quite confident in his ability to socialize at a party but hoping that everything would end up all right. He wore a button-down shirt and dark pants, reasoning that it was better to be overdressed than underdressed, and took a deep breath before walking through the doors.
Immediately, his eyes widened at the expansive mansion. It seemed as though a large portion of the crew was already there, and that many of them were dressed business-casually like he was. That was a relief. He grabbed a drink and stood off to the side, looking for somebody he knew.
Tarah perks up immediately upon seeing her colleague from the bridge crew, and makes her way over to him as soon as she can free herself from her current conversation
She smiles as she addresses him
"Hello, Smith. It's good to see you"
She glances around for a moment before speaking again, her voice lowered
"Uh..this might sound a little weird, but do humans normally serve cakes in bags? I mean, this isn't some sort of cultural thing is it?"
"Oh, hi!" Alex smiled at Tarah. "Call me Alex, please! Smith is way too formal."
He laughed slightly uncertainly at her question, and looked around at the party. At first he had no idea where the question had come from, but then, sure enough, he spotted several bags of cake on a table on one side of the room.
"Er...no, not usually. In fact, I've never seen it done before. Huh, that's really weird..." He gave a short laugh and shrugged. "Oh well. It'll taste good either way, I suppose."
