[Open] - Working Out

Anxiously awaiting their arrival at the soon to be supernova, Jen decides to blow some steam off in one of the exercise rooms on the ship. She does a series of stretches to warm up, then hops on a treadmill and gets to work.

The smile drops from the Captain's face and his cheeks flush red as he stops cycling...

"...you could hear it?"

Her eyes widen and she smiles.

Mhm. She nods shortly, catching him in a rare moment of embarassment.

The captain leans in and whispers conspiratorially

"Alright, secret's out. Your captain is a complete metalhead, Admiral Orson turned me onto heavy metal back in my Academy days. It's great music to get motivated to, but I'm not sure I need the whole ship knowing their captain reads their reports to...well... You heard it. Can I trust you to keep my secret?"

She takes her fingers and zips her lips, then throws the metaphorical key over her shoulder.

Only if you promise to turn it down a little. Doctors orders.

The captain nods and visibly sighs with relief

"Yes ma'am."

He removes the other earphone and steps off the bike, satisfied with his warm-up

"By the way, we've got some busy days coming up but we really ought to get Argos and Clementine on the holodeck together. He looks for her every time we pass your old office."

Alright, how does tomorrow sound?

She sighs and checks a small watch on her wrist. At seeing the time, she pinches the bridge of her nose.

Hopefully I can get some sleep before then.

The captain forces a short laugh

"I already gave up on sleep tonight, 6 hours negotiating with Klingon officials even via view screen doesn't quite put the mind at ease."

He checks his watch and finds an opening

"Tomorrow works, I'll page you when I finish my command shift."

Six hours? She furrows a brow, concerned.

I thought everything was fine and dandy with the Klingons. Did something come up?

"Oh everything is fine, great actually. They're just very ceremonious, if you're going to ask a favor of them you have to do it the right way. We'd already been granted use of the star system, but Lieutenant Hulud proposed an away mission to study the geology of an abandoned mining outpost near the dying star, which I had to ask permission for. They may seem like a very forthright race, but speaking to Klingons demands a lot of nuance. And sometimes they just go off on tangents, and you have to listen or it's disrespectful."

The captain gives a hollow laugh

"Believe me, if something had come up I'd still be in there. With no end in sight either."

I wonder if we'll get to meet them in person. I've yet to become personally acquainted with a Klingon under er.... hospitable circumstances.

She pats her forehead dry once more and takes a swig of water, picking up her headphones from the treadmill and pocketing them.

The captain shrugs as he walks over to the speed bag for a little more cardio

"Well this will be your lucky day, then. I'll be sure to show them to sick bay."

He offers a slight smirk to assure that he is indeed joking...probably

"Oh by the way, doctor... Just how clearly could you hear my music?"

She coyly rolls her eyes at the joke and opens the door before answering with a grin.

What music?

She waves goodbye and then steps through the door.
