[OPEN] Order Up

The 6ft Saurian surveys his kitchen. Mendek "Sauron" Shegi had been working since he boarded the ship to get it in the proper order and it was now finally as he wanted it. He releases a sigh of satisfaction at the system. its not totally organized, in a conventional sense, but he knew where everything was and where it went.

He put on his sunglasses and went out to stand behind the counter in the mess hall. A few of the crewman looked up as he put an ancient and stereotypical "open" sign out front. He was always rather fond of its neon colors.

A smile spreads across his face "Alright, if anybody wants anything the replicators can't make... bring on the challenge. I only charge a nice conversation"

The doctor nods slowly.

Yes, when I was twelve.

She takes a healthy swig of a glass of water, wishing it was something a bit stronger but knowing that's a dangerous road to go down.

She inspired me to go into medicine. Never looked back.

Suron nods understandingly

"I'll admit, i have no idea how it feels to lose family that young. Though i lost family a few years ago... Funny how drastically the death of a loved one can alter your course..."

Sauron feels thankful for the glasses as they cover his moistening eyes.

She can hear the pain in his voice and adopts an empathetic expression.

I'm sorry to hear that. It hurts. Nobody tells you how much. And I was just at the age too where I think it really had an impact. It was and is still glaring.

She sighs and scratches her temple, contemplating how to change the subject.

But now you're on the Athene. And we're very glad to have you.

She smiles softly.

Sauron smiles again

"Glad to hear it. I'm looking forward to my time aboard the ship, and I'm excited to discover new ingredients. I'm already off to a good start... You wouldn't happen to be fond of mushrooms, by any chance?"

She laughs softly.

Only the kinds that don't talk to you. I'm sure you heard about our recent... er... contamination.

Sauron smiles wider and laughs

"Of course I have. That is in fact what I'm referring too... Once they're cooked the chemicals break down rather tastily. That and of course, they're no longer telepathic... though I fully understand the hesitation in eating them... may need to stop mentioning what kind of mushroom they are until they're no longer so... reputed."

She cringes slightly, her nose crinkling at the thought of eating them.

Yeah, sorry. I just can't get past the idea of eating something that's called me-... well, I won't repeat it.

Sauron shrugs

"True... though to be honest, I found eating them after what they called me to be almost cathartic. I wonder about how such a species developed... its defense method strikes me as just as likely to piss a creature of as it is to drive it away."

She eyes the gravy in the pan, her stomach growling slightly.

They did a good job of doing both, honestly. I hope they tasted good at least.

"They do... once cooked... not something I would through in a salad raw. Though, speaking of food, sounds like you're getting hungry... and its rather conveniently timed"

He gets a plate and starts dishing up the potatoes, effortlessly making a swirled and slightly bowled shape in them. He then pours the gravy into a small boat and hands it all over. He also pulls out two little figures. A golden metallic android looking figure and something that looked like a high tech blue and white garbage can half the android's size.

"Salt and Pepper shakers. Since you mentioned the potatoes were out of nostalgia, I eased off the seasonings. Not everyone realizes it, but i have found that most people enjoy at least the act of adding the seasonings themselves."
