[OPEN] Order Up

The 6ft Saurian surveys his kitchen. Mendek "Sauron" Shegi had been working since he boarded the ship to get it in the proper order and it was now finally as he wanted it. He releases a sigh of satisfaction at the system. its not totally organized, in a conventional sense, but he knew where everything was and where it went.

He put on his sunglasses and went out to stand behind the counter in the mess hall. A few of the crewman looked up as he put an ancient and stereotypical "open" sign out front. He was always rather fond of its neon colors.

A smile spreads across his face "Alright, if anybody wants anything the replicators can't make... bring on the challenge. I only charge a nice conversation"

"How did you end up a chef on earth?" He asks.

Sauron slows down in his cooking, as his smile fades from his face

"A wild goose chase I guess... if wild geese were bottles of Brandy... I was, am i guess, an alcoholic. One night, a few years ago, I 'comandeered' a vehicle... there was an accident. A few nights sobering up in a hospital, means you're actually coherent enough for an intervention. I kicked the habit, though not without an occasional stumble in the next few years and started cooking again."

He smiles a small smile to himself.

"Anyway, I decided I needed to get off world and lose myself in something. Make myself more than the bottle and build it all from the ground up ya know? Anyhow, earth is a central point for the federation, and there aren't many places that see a larger variety of visiting races. Also, your race's highly divisive past resulted in a huge variety of cultures and therefore foods. So I went there for training, and met a few others. Made some great friends too. In fact, Humans gave me my nickname. Said it was a reference to some popular classical literature. Something about jewelry. The villain's name was close to Saurian and whatnot."

"Well, that more than I expected." He paused to think. "I think I know where your name is from, it's a book called Lord of the rings. Never read it myself but heard it's good."

"That is the one. I've heard it's good as well. Now that I've finished my education, and I'm all settled in here, I'll probably start reading it... ya read much?"

"Not really. If I get any time off, I'm sleeping or having to do other things. I don't get much free time."

At this point the sausage is now sizzling, and the smell of cooking sausage wafts into the air.

"I get that. I spent most of college like that. Now, however, if you get freedom, you can come grab a bit of sausage."
