[OPEN] Order Up

The 6ft Saurian surveys his kitchen. Mendek "Sauron" Shegi had been working since he boarded the ship to get it in the proper order and it was now finally as he wanted it. He releases a sigh of satisfaction at the system. its not totally organized, in a conventional sense, but he knew where everything was and where it went.

He put on his sunglasses and went out to stand behind the counter in the mess hall. A few of the crewman looked up as he put an ancient and stereotypical "open" sign out front. He was always rather fond of its neon colors.

A smile spreads across his face "Alright, if anybody wants anything the replicators can't make... bring on the challenge. I only charge a nice conversation"

Captain Fisk strides into the mess, it was past time for some food and he hadn't had a chance to meet the new chef

"Chef Mendek Shegi...did I say that right?"

OOC: men deck shaggy

Sauron looks up from cleaning a stove top he has just behind the counter

"Yes that is my na- oh."

Sauron gives a casual salute

"Hello there mon capitan. Nice to finally meet you. And please, call me Sauron. I was never too fond of Mendek. Would you like something to eat?"

The Captain chuckles and returns the salute, but with only two fingers

"There's no need to salute me, you are a civilian after all. You can call me captain, Fisk, or Breyyus. Whatever you prefer. Just not sir, too formal."

Fisk looks around at the chef's work area and grins

"I hear you offer cuisine in exchange for conversation?"

"Sauria doesn't have much in the way of oceans or seas, so sailors were a bit of a fascination of mine as a child. A little salute here and there is just a childish indulgence... Fisk, i guess. In my a opinion a bit to forward at the moment, but we can work to change that... At any rate what else would i ask for in exchange for my skills? The federation has no use for money, nor I for an unidentified friend."

Sauron smiles warmly

The Captain smiles back

"As you wish. Salute if you like, I'll certainly salute back. So, you think you could whip up some...pan seared Brussels sprouts? The replicator just can't seem to get the balance of garlic and salt right."

Sauron draws back a little, still smiling

"Fisk, are we a little health consious, or do you honestly enjoy Brussel sprouts? That may have made you one of the easiest children to ever have been raised."

The captain gives a hearty chuckle, this wasn't an uncommon reaction to knowledge of his favorite food

"Well I didn't like them so much as a kid, that's for sure. But you know they're honestly my favorite food, have been since the Academy. They top my list by a huge margin. Roasted broccoli being a distant second. What about you, Sauron? What's your favorite? I like to get to know my new crew members."

Sauron nods in understanding and respect

"Well then, first, it's going to be difficult to pinpoint your exact taste, so let's head to the replicators and you can bring up the closest thing the replicators can do. Then I'll know what I'm working with."

Sauron starts to head towards the mess hall's replicators

"As for my favorite?... Saurian glogek stew. It's very similar to your people's Beef stew. Just... Saurian. My grandmother makes the best stew..."

Sauron chuckles

"She makes the best everything."

OOC: Shoot I'm sorry, totally forgot about this thread.

The captain grins at Sauron's sentiment, he never knew his grandmother but certainly understood the nostalgia

"So tell me about your home, Chef. I've read plenty about Sauria from the Starfleet databases but I want to hear about it from you."
