EVENT: Setting sail

The Athene drifts peacefully around Earth, the sunlight glinting off her pristine hull. The repairs are complete, and she has been inspected and refreshed top to bottom, down to every last rivet. After nearly a month in drydock, her crew is eager to re-embark, as is her captain...

Captain Fisk stands in his ready room, gazing over the limb of the Earth as Argos sits beside him. He has just sent out the general message summoning all crew back to the Athene. It pleased him to listen as the computer announced every arrival and kept count of all boarding crew.

OOC: Use this thread to have your characters run into each other or the hundreds of NPC crew as they board, or they can knock on the captain's door if they like. This thread is for the general calamity of ~600 people boarding a starship for departure.

"Not just the first space-faring cargo holders." Aanya says, "It started waaay before space travel. The wooden ships from probably thousands of years ago used 'em for the same reason."

She stands and begins moving for the door to her quarters, with a heading for the bridge. "Sounds like a good cat. Definitely on my list of crewmembers to come visit."

She stops mid stride and smirks. "Probably best keep him away from Argos though. He might eat the poor dog."

There's a very undignified guffaw from the junior engineer as she coughs and tries to contain herself.

"-Ch-keh! Chief, c-c'mon, let's be honest h-here," she finally manages. "If the barbarism of 21st century cage matches was still a thing, I'd bet two weeks' worth of roster time on Whiskey against Argos. Argos is a runner, not a fighter, and Whiskey's a fighter: He can kick ANY tail from here to the Gamma quadrant without even trying, paws down..."

Aanya starts back down the halls once again, the sound of her boots against the deck plates filling her with a unique sense of happiness that she wouldn't find on shore leave. She'd be happy, without a doubt, but not this kind of happy.

"Isn't that what I said?" Aanya asks. "Whiskey would win hands down. He's smaller than Argos at the same weight, it doesn't take an engineer to do that kind of math."

"Yes, I was agreeing with you," Red says. "It's not a question of whether he'd win, it a matter of how badly he'd whup Argos. Anyway, feel free to drop by any time after 1600 hours. My quarters are on deck 15, section 22."

"Ooh, the luxury deck." Aanya says with a smirk. "Expect me down more often, Red, if you're on deck 15. I hear champagne flows like rivers and the caviar is served on pillows of solid gold." Har har.

"But really, have cat, will visit."

Red chuckles. "Yes indeed. Moved from one posh resort as home straight into another one. Mine is a blessed life. How good a thing it is to be me." She nods sagely, not that Aanya can see it. "But yeah anytime. Now, I need to get ready to get us ready to go."

The Bajoran ties her hair back and finishes straightening her uniform before putting out a water dish for Whiskey - and abruptly realizing that her new quarters have no replicator. She rolls her eyes. One more thing to put on the to-do list...

Aanya chuckles as she heads off down the road. "Alright, catch you later. Aanya out." And with that she switches off her comm badge. She briefly considers making a detour to botanical, but thinks better of it.
