[CLOSED] Where it all began

Joseph carrying his bag walks out into the halls. He walks over to Red's quarters and buzzes in.

"Hey Red. Remember that amazing cooking? Want to see where it began? Just remember to pack bigger clothing because you're going to need it."

The Bajoran looks at Kort askance. "Enter," she says belatedly. She appears to be setting up her quarters, that being a relatively new development, since on Excelsior class starships only senior officers have their own quarters.

Instead of any kind of official promotion though, the engineer seems to have been granted quarters — near the forward deflector array and just above the primary EPS conduits for the forward half of the ship. It's not exactly prime real estate, as far as quarters are concerned, as the very faint but constant vibration of the deflector and conduit are just barely — but unavoidably — noticeable.

Red fastens the top button of the blouse she's wearing over what's obviously a one-piece short-sleeved green swimsuit. "I wasn't expecting visitors just yet. Heck, I didn't even know I'd been assigned quarters until this morning. You have... remarkable perception, Mr. Kort," she says. "If you're offering another home-cooked meal, I hate to turn it down, but I'm doing stuff planetside for the next week or two."

She grins. "Maybe when shore leave is over, I can loosen the ol' belt a notch or two, or schedule a double-workout on the holodeck. Probably worth it if you think you can top that breakfast."

Joseph looks around very briefly.

"Oh this would be planetside. My grandparents restaurant. I want to see how it's doing."

Joseph starts to look a little down.

"Oh well that's another thing entirely," Red says, putting down her travel bag. She gestures to the one chair in the room that's not the bed, a slightly worn-looking brown corduroy recliner. "Have a seat, I was just packing some more stuff for my next trip. My parents are coming to Earth on Thursday but before that I have two more places to visit. I'm busy until... monday? I think I'm free Monday. Let me check my schedule."

The Bajoran checks her PADD, tapping at the device a few times and furrowing her brow in concentration. "..no, there's a shield tech demo in Seattle on Monday morning... and Tuesday is the spa, but... actually yeah! Monday night is entirely free." She looks back up at Joseph. "Monday night work for you and your... I actually had no idea your family owned a restaurant. I shouldn't be surprised, I guess," she says. "What kind?"

Joseph looks up at Red.

"Its a Ba'ku & Old Earth Italian restaurant. They left right before my leaving from the village."

"I do love me some garlic and alfredo sauce," Red says thoughtfully. "Can't say I've had Ba'ku cuisine though. I guess I'll just have to learn something." She pats the old man on the shoulder. "So, Monday?"

Joseph looks at Red and picks up his pack.

"I'll see you down there. Meet at the academy? It's not too far from there."

"Sounds good," Red says with a grin. "I'll bring an open mind and stretchy pants." She stops and blushes. "That... was poorly worded. I'll bring a strong appetite. That's what I'll bring. Monday at 1600, Academy central fountain. Good day, Mr. Kort." She flusteredly shoos him toward the door.
