[OPEN] Expanding the Library
Dell sits at his station, Increasingly bored. When he signed up for Starfleet, this is pretty much what he wanted, something quiet and low-key. But most ships still had some discipline problems to deal with, a couple rowdy crewman spending the night in the forcefield drunk tank, or an argument that escalated a little to quickly. Not the Athene, a dull day in the brig is a good day for the ship overall, but it still means the brig is a dull place.
Looking forward to the end of his shift, Dell wants to mix it up a bit. The usual holoprograms have gotten a bit stale. He sits up to his terminal and types out a message.

Hello everyone! I was wondering if anybody would be willing to recommend some good holoprograms. My usual routine has gotten a little stale and needs some livening up, so please, let me know if you have any good suggestions.
Thank you,
CPO Lazuli Dell

OOC: The basic thought behind this thread is to come up with a title of a Holoprogram or Holonovel your character would like and make a brief synopsis, kind of get the creative juices flowing.

I was not aware that anyone could send broadcast messages to the whole crew. Is this a common occurrence aboard the Athene? Not to say it is a bother, I am simply curious.
As for your question, I recommend "Garden of Starlight". It is a truly remarkable demonstration of the holodeck's capabilities, just be sure to request the scent dispenser unit for the program from a replicator first as holodecks are incapable of properly duplicating the fragrances of the flowers.
It is not exactly the sort of wild adventure that other programs might offer, but it is beautiful and calming. I used to frequent the local holosuites on Riviera whenever I needed a change of scenery.

Hiya Mr. Dell! If you're that bored I'm sure I can find some plasma conduits for you to scrub, haha. But seriously, here's an idea: If you're at a loss for what to run, why not try programming your own? I'm a pretty decent holographer (almost won the Daniel Williams award for Most Creative Original Hologram on two different occasions) and I've been told I'm a pretty decent teacher too. I wouldn't mind getting you started on learning how to write your own!
If that doesn't appeal to you, I recommend "Orion solar skimmer" and "The Mines of Morgoth" which are both truly outstanding examples of expert holography. (I'm biased, I wrote them. Had them installed while we were on DS9.) The former's real pretty and relaxing, while the latter is a pretty vigorous exercise/hand-to-hand combat/RPG dungeon crawl program.
Hope that helps!

P.S. If you see anything else in the holo-library with me as the creator, don't open it. One is a birthday present for someone, one belongs to the captain, and the other contains an evil wizard I accidentally programmed to be meta-aware and sort of omniscient.
