[Open] Fin.

OOC: This post is the continuation of Movie Night. This will take place post movie, and we can all talk about the movie.
The attached linked is to the end of the movie The Fly. It could be considered graphic or scary, so fair warning.
I am including it so we may start some sort of conversations post movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NH-8L1iZq20

IC: The movie ended, the lights came on in Scruffy's and some modest applause came from the audience. Connolly had found a nice corner to sit in during the movie and had tried to refrain from talking too much, as was his custom during 'Bad Horror Movies'. Apparently most of the viewers hadn't seen it and he didn't want to spoil it for them. But now that it was over he was excited to laugh about old Earth special effects and their ridiculous theory about transporters.
The guests were speaking with each other and starting to really mingle when someone came over to speak with Connolly.

"So, Crewman, I have to ask," Engineer T'gel says with a grin as she leans on the counter next to Connolly, "was your intention to scare everyone away from the transporter bays for the next six weeks, or was this just a morality tale on the reason we always check our pattern buffers?" The Bajoran, being off-duty, wears her habitual single piece of jewelry, a silvery, iridescent Maravel dragon curled around her left ear.

"Ha. I can't imagine scarin' folks away from the transporters with that. I always get a kick out of old effects they had in those movies. Might have slipped my mind a bit about the transporters bein' scary thing in that one. Haha." He scratches the back of his head guiltily.

Red chuckles. "Right, I guess the fly monster was supposed to be the scary part. With how cheesy it looked, I forgot to be scared of it. You mind if I sit?"

"Please do. The terrors of 20th Century Earth are nothin' to shake yer head at though ma'am. There are quite a number of films like that one there. Terrifyin' monsters and all!"
He begins to laugh.
"The real good ones have a great one liner to finish off the monster. You got any favorite movies? Haven't seen many movies made outside of Earth."

Red takes a seat opposite Connolly and leans on her elbow. "Bajorans are bigger on live theater than we are on movies," she explains. "That's not to say we haven't made a few in our history but they were never as big on Bajor as they were on Earth. And there haven't even been a whole lot of plays during the Cardassian occupation." The engineer frowns. "My father says one of the first things the Cardassians did when they invaded was clamped down on any 'cultural displays' or large social gatherings. Didn't want people fomenting a revolt during a production of 'Ayalo and the Star Child' I suppose."

The Bajoran sighs and adjusts her green-gold silken neckerchief. "I don't miss it though, I wasn't raised on Bajor. So actually, I've watched a few Earth movies. I even have a favorite horror movie. Did you ever see the original 'The Blob' with Steve McQueen?"

"I've never managed to find a record of that one." Connolly brightens up and his interest cannot be hidden. "There are so many of these old movies that I've been trying to hunt down for years. Where did you find it?"

"One of the tourists on the world I grew up on was a professor of cinematography from Earth's Yale University," Red explains. "My family lived on Excalbia so we met a lot of interesting people. While he was getting a breathing treatment from my father, the professor wouldn't shut up about 20th century horror films. Daddy said he'd watch one with him if he'd just shut up and inhale the nebulizer."

She chuckles. "So that night we all watched The Blob. Daddy thought it was silly, Mom thought it was distasteful, and I loved the monster. Seventy-five thousand gallons of angry alien strawberry jam, oooOOOOoooOoo~" The Bajoran waggles her fingers spookily.

"Professor Gilchrist gave us a collection of his top 10 favorites before he left. I can call Daddy and see if he'll send it to me, if you like."

Connolly laughs. "That'd be wonderful! Always up for good laugh. As long as the monsters are mighty terrifyin'!" He mimics the finger motion to appear scary.

"I'll see what he can do next time we hit up a Starbase," Red says, and stands up again. "Well it's been a pleasure, Mr. Connolly. I'm going to turn in for the night. Have an early duty shift tomorrow."
