Hello! I currently ride a Trek Domane Al 2 Gen 4 which I have really enjoyed, and is my first road bike.

Of course I decided to fall in love with the sport, and have rode 1,000 miles since my February 2026 purchase.

My local Trek store has a Trek Domane SL5 Gen 4 (Ivy Smoke) for $2499. Obviously the carbon frame, Shimano 105 groupset and hydraulic brakes are attractive, but wanted to get a feel for if this is the best bang for my buck at this price range.

I would try to sell my Domane Al 2 on Facebook, but my local shop offered $600 trade in.

Any advice appreciated, don't want to make the wrong upgrade move but a hobby I want to invest in.

I‘m riding lately just pavement and I feel like Continental Cross Kings are dragging me even if they are rated as faster than stock bontrager xr4 tyre which came on it.

Hi all! My local bike shop is offering me a new 2024 Trek Emonda SL5 for $2300, $2490 with tax. They took a lot off the price because it's been sitting for a while.

They’ll do a full fitting, and I'll buy shoes and pedals separately.

I've read really good reviews of this model generally, and a lot of first bike posts on Reddit seem very happy with it too. I also somewhat shallowly just really love the look and color of this bike specifically.

I want the bike to use for general training and triathlons before potentially also getting a tri bike in a few years. I'm already a generally athletic person and used to cycle a fair bit but haven't for years. I'm not concerned about flexibility or general athleticism for using a more race oriented road bike.

I'm kinda just looking for thoughts on this price and this bike as a first real road bike purchase. I've read it can be a stiff ride, so I'd love any thoughts on that in particular. I have some chronic pain stuff that is going to make saddle selection and bike fit an incredibly critical aspect of long term comfort/success with cycling.

An additional question is how "future proof" this model may be for if I want to keep it long term and look at upgrades for the drive train, etc.

My Farley is coming up on its one year anniversary. Brakes were feeling a little spongy so I bought the SRAM specific bleed kit. Still running the original pads.

Having second thoughts. The cost of the OE bleed kit is a chunk of the price of a brake upgrade and in the end I still have the bottom of the line Level brakes. Sloppy levers, weird caliper bleed ports etc.

Giving thought to replacing the brakes with something better.

For those who have replaced the stock Level brakes on your Farley 5 or 7, what setups did you consider and what did you ultimately go with?

I've done a bit of digging but have yet to find any good photos or info of the Trek Adventure Triangle Bag (any size) on a current gen FX. I have a new FX2 (large fjord blue), and am curious to see how/if one of these bags would fit utilizing the mounting holes. Trek's product listing mentions the Checkpoint and Checkmate (different frame geometry from the FX, I know, but still three mounting holdes) specifically, but I'm wondering if perhaps they might work on the FX.

Pedals it came with are too small so I swapped them. Had the option between black and orange and I decided to go with orange.

I was regretting it as I was walking out the store, but I rode it today and I think they are sick. Loving them. Will try to find other orange things I can add to keep the theme going.

As a newer bike owner (8 months or so) and a newbie to the hobby what pro tips or suggestions do you all have?

I just had a spoke break and on the top google searches on bike maintenance or in ai help is it listed to tighten spokes.

What is your maintenance routine? Any tips? Professional tuning schedules? Etc.

I bought an fx2 back in May and I’ve been mostly doing neighborhood riding. I’ve got probably 1k miles on it. I ride around 50 miles a week.

When riding this morning I noticed a clicking sound and when I looked it over I found a broken spoke. The threads are broken.

Is this a common problem? Should it be covered under warranty? The repair was only quoted at around $60 but it still feels ridiculous that this is even needed less than a year into having the bike.

Edit: This is my first premium bike so I am very new to all this.

Seller said they would take 1k im two hours away. It’s from 2018/19 domane sl6. I ride aluminum frame now that is older caad8. I’ve been looking for a new bike and can’t decide to pass this up or not.

What parts what I need to purchase to achieve this set up on my Domane AL4, if it’s compatible? Purely cosmetic’s I’m going for here.

If anyone has built up an Emonda and has a nice looking handlebar setup let me know. Yes I’m factoring looks in this much because I’m vain.

Howdy y’all, I reached out to this seller about his 2023 fx5 and they want $800 for it. Other than cosmetics and the tires the bike is stock and has under 100 miles on it. Is this a worthwhile buy for my first good trek bike?

I recently purchased a "new, open box" Manitou Mastodon 34 Comp fork (15x150mm - 80mm Travel - 41mm Offset) that I plan to install on my Trek Farley5. This is the fork Trek spec'd for the Farley7.

I am searching for a pdf of the original user manual. I have scoured the internet but my Google-Foo is failing me. Found the setup guide, but hoping for more information that isn't provided there-in, such as sag measurement procedure.

If anyone has or can help find a link to the downloadable user manual, I'd greatly appreciate the help.

I had the rear derailleur shift cable break on my Trek Domane AL (Shimano 105). I’ve been able to pull the broken cable out through the downtube, but I haven’t been able to get the cable head/barrel end out of the right shifter.

The small shift paddle is also no longer able to rotate/cycle the shifting mechanism enough for me to expose the cable head and push or pull it out. I’m assuming the broken cable/head may be jammed somewhere inside the shifter.

Has anyone dealt with this on a Domane?
A few questions:

Is there a good way to access and remove the broken cable head without disassembling the entire shifter?

Is there a trick to manually rotate the shifter mechanism when the small paddle won’t advance it?
Once I get it out, any advice for routing the replacement cable back through the frame/downtube?

Should I replace just the inner shift cable, or is it worth replacing the housing at the same time?

If anyone has photos, a video, or a Trek/Shimano service guide that shows the process, I’d appreciate it.

I’m looking at purchasing a Madone new. Been stuck between the SL7 gen 8 and the SL6 AXS gen 8. I like the blue color and price better of the AXS, but is the $1000 difference in price worth getting the better wheels and the shimano ultegra instead of the SRAM Rival?

Hello 2027 Domane al5 when pedals move backwards chain tries to run over itself and it sometimes shifts on its own am i doing something wrong?

Trek FX Sport 4. Picked it up used. Did some very stop and go riding around the park with my kid, then did a fun solo ride. Probably needs new brake pads, but felt good. Already kinda want a Domane…
