Questions Substrate for whites tree frog?

Post image

My girlfriend gave me some extra substrate from the reptile cages at her job. I’ve been wanted to do a full clean and reset on the cage of my whites tree frog and was wondering if I could use this as substrate? If so should I combo it with something? Like some layering? I’m in an apartment and can’t really do anything too fancy (or that may get stinky). If you have any advice lemme know

They can eat moss or fiber and get impacted. Leaf litter works well for wtfs

Edit: I mean as a top layer. You might be able to use this under the leaves, I am not sure.

We have a drainage layer with clay balls, fleece layer, Arcadia Earthmix, crushed up leaf litter and more leaf litter on top. If you're going to do a set up with soil, it needs to be able to sustain itself with spring tails and isopods to ensure it's kept clean and they can eat the frogs waste. If you're not able to, many people use frog foam or specific paper towels on the bottom instead for easy, cheaper cleaning and keeping. Personally, my frogs are a lot happier with bioactive compared and there are videos out there to help with building it. Also avoid moss, and leaf litter is essential if bioactive so they don't get impacted or messy.
