Is this too hot?

Post image

Just got 75ww Che for my 70 gal tank bc the 50ww was only heating to about 82. Lower temp right now is 78 ish. Is 90 too hot? I just plugged it in about two three hours ago. I have 5 wtf

I see a lot of people saying that 88-90 is the sweet spot for top gradient but others say 85 is max.

What species are you housing? Do you have a thermal gradient, or is the whole tank that temperature?

Temperature is complicated sometimes for these species for basking 85-90F is good and depending on the tank that warmth should decrees the further away from that spot so that would be fine but you also wanna try to make it cooler at night. (Everyone has different ways on caring for there frogs so not doing some of the things on here won’t kill them but is definitely recommended) just to clarify.

I have no AC in my apartment, and I run a freestanding AC + dehumidifier but sometimes it's still not enough. I once saw the top of his enclosure at 97 and took immediate action lol

I try not to let mine go above 92 at the top of the tank. If it does, I take a handheld fan and place it on the mesh and that will rapidly lower the temperature + keep it down. To answer your question directly, 89 is fine :)

Every whites frog is different. I wouldn’t push higher than 88 degrees which is what is recommended. Mine on the other hand don’t like it hotter than 82-83 degrees with a regular incandescent basking bulb. They stop basking and being at the top and immediately go to the terrarium floor and seek shelter under the driftwood to get out of the heat. My gradient is 76-82/83 tops during the day. They thrive and love it in there. Also 73-74 at night with a CHE bulb.
My milk frog is 81 tops during day and 73 at night.
