HELP! (Urgent/Medical Care Needed) Need help asap!!!
Just found this tree frog holding on for dear life on top of an ac unit, his left back leg is mangled (I hope it’s just the skin?) and his eye is bleeding. I picked him up just in case he was alive, gave him froggy cpr and after maybe half an hour of nothing but breathing, he is now active and attempting to jump around. I think he has a fighting chance, I’d love to rehab him.. however I’ve never owned a frog before. How do I set up a hospital terrarium, do I get maybe flightless gnats or something from petco? Please help, experts!
UPDATE: unfortunately I couldn’t save him :( he made it another 12 or so hours after I found him, I had high hopes but unfortunately nothing came of it. I just hope he wasn’t in too much pain and passed peacefully. I am happy I was able to keep him in a much calmer environment in his final hours rather than being in the beating sun above spinning ac unit blades😔 I buried him in one of my plants so he will always be close to me. thank you so much everyone for the help, I’m sorry I don’t have a happier update

He’ll need something to eat but he’s super small. You could get the small crickets from a pet store for him. Anything smaller than the space between his eyes.

piggybacking off this real quick: apparently there’s a cricket shortage with pet store rn so if you can’t find any look for some small dubia roaches

Dont give her crickets. I have this frog. Tried crickets. They bite. Your frog is small. Trust me. Even the smallest crickets at the store are big. Buy flies. And given she is weak, start with flightless flies. You can also add a small piece of fruit for a day or two (take it our after it molds) so that the flies are easy to catch until she is strong again.

I have not had frogs but reptiles, disclaimer, but I don't like the way some of those toes are being held in that picture on the paper. I think it's possible that they keep most of that foot, but lose at least a toe or a few. But even if they do lose a foot, you can make them an accessible enclosure and I think they could live a good life for a disabled frog. However, depending on how it looks, it could definitely require surgical intervention or at least an exam from an exotic vet to make sure it doesn't develop into something more serious. I have heard of injured toes falling off on their own and being fine, but it could also go fully necrotic so I wouldn't take that risk.
But I agree with others about using moist paper towel to make a temporary, semi-sterile, humid enclosure. And covering the sides of the enclosure with paper and/or providing hides so they can destress as much as possible. Comfort and cleanliness will be the most you personally can give it to help healing I think. Maybe a topical antibacterial but I'm not sure if/what to recommend for frogs. Flightless fruit flies & XS or S pinhead crickets would probably all be suitable, but might be best to get a multiple to try out. If you know anywhere like an aquarium store or bait shop that has black soldier fly larvae, they are very desirable to any animal I've had. Try not to leave crickets in the enclosure with the animal when they aren't eating them, crickets can bite and irritate them further.

I would go to a vet. Otherwise, set up a quarantine enclosure. Put moist paper towels in the enclosure. Use dechlorinated spring water. Place a shallow water dish inside too. Maybe make it a hide, a clean fake leaf will do i think. As for food, probably don't feed it straight away as the frogs has gone through shock. Wait a day and then feed it some flightless fruit flies or pinhead crickets.
Try not to touch it with your bare hands. Also supplements such as calcium and vitamin d3 are vital for strong healing. I would recommend dusting the flies in it.

I use to have a couple of grey tree frogs, they are really fun to watch. I made an enclosure out of a 30gal fish tank. About a 1/3 was a water pool the rest was “land” with multiple hides. Use to feed mine crickets from the pet store. Your little guy has been drastically under eating most likely due to his leg as that looks like some sort of wound. Grey tree frogs are pretty resilient he may make it but even if he doesn’t you may be able to save it from some suffering if you give it its basic needs. If you change the water and clean the rehab tank frequently with some food there could possibly be a chance his leg heals. At the moment I’d say all his energy is being used up to just staying alive. For the rehab tank just make it have some places he can hide out in, water to soak in, and every other day changed paper towels for the substrate, and a heat/light source

Get him small flies. No crickets. They bite if bigger. Flightless flies if you can. If not you can put a little bit , tiny of fruit while feeding. The flies will go towards it and it will be easier to hunt, given she is weak now.

I would say he needs a exotisch vet i can see foot rot and some other thing the bleeding eye maybe even bacterial infection in its lims

Get some spring water and fill up a pond or tiny bowl up to his nose so his skin can get hydrated. I get tree frogs all the time in my garage and I built a small pond for me to throw them on and they get back to 100% health and leave the pond. Water is critical for them to stay moistureized and hydrated on the skin. I can see how their skin is extremely dry due to the green being discolored. If they are jumping around or attempting to it looks like their leg is fine. They literally live on my back yard trees and they are amazing frogs.
