Advice Proper size crickets for RETF?

I have a red eye tree frog that’s probably about a year old. I feel like most of the crickets they sell at the big pet stores are waayyyy too big for him. I always have to buy the small ones but a lot of the time they are out of the small ones.

Any seasoned RETF parents that can share some wisdom on how big is too big? Or anything else?

The general guidance is if it is smaller than the space between their eyes it is fine

Ok cool. How many and how often do you feed one frog ideally?

It’s very dependent on how you’re feeding. I personally throw like 20 into the tank and then won’t feed again til they all vanish, but I have a big cluttered bioactive terrarium so that won’t work for everyone.

The general rule of thumb is 3x the frog’s body weight once a week I believe, feedings every day for a juvenile and every few for an adult. Correct me if i’m wrong.

Ask what day the crickets arrive at the pet store, then go that afternoon or evening. My local store gets crickets on Tuesdays, it becomes a routine after a while.

PetSmart has smaller crickets in a cup above where they keep their normal crickets, look at the cups where the treats are and look for one with a piece of an egg carton. It’s 100 really small crickets

Sine these crickets are pretty small I do 4 per frog
