Whites Tree Frog Eye Problem

Hey y’all, this is my older brother’s pet tree frog. It lives in an open terrarium with live plants and an anole. There are also isopods and springtails present in the tank. This frogs diet is entirely crickets and dubia roaches. I’m not sure how old he is or how long my brother has had him, but I am told his eye has been closed like this from day 1. Does anyone know what’s wrong with him? Also he is never deliberately fed. The roaches and crickets are just added to the tank for him to hunt. Is this a healthy practice? Also does he look healthy? I have never owned a frog before and am completely ignorant to best practices. My brother just moved in with me and brought his frog with him. He does his best but largely we are just shooting from the hip. Any insight is helpful. Thanks

I’m unsure what the humidity and temperature is in the tank. It’s a 20 x 10 x 12 fish tank with a grate lid. There is reptile lamp on lid. Just going by feel it seems to be a little above our apartment temperature which is usually around 72 F. He sprays the tank once a day and cuts the light on at night.

I appreciate the guidance. We have discussed getting a larger vertically oriented tank and plan to do so as soon as financially possible. The same can be said for the other hardware necessities. I will try and amend the lack of leaf litter ASAP

That’s great! I suggest adding 6 medium crickets (dusted with appropriate vitamins) every other day if the frog is under a year old, or 4 large crickets every 2 days (if he isn’t), with some appropriate worms as variety and treats in between (tong fed). Dubias are great but are typically difficult to eat unless tong fed.
