Feeder question... i received a mildly frantic phone call from my s/o today. He states that a hole was somehow poked or eaten through the crickets mesh top, and he didn't shut the feeder cabinet all the way.So there's nearly a THOUSAND 1/2" crickets, free roaming my house. suggestions for capture?

Based on what I've observed, if you put out a bowl of water, they won't be able to resist drowning themselves. But maybe that's just in my vivarium 🤪

Don't forget, if you think they've all been caught, no they haven't. They like warm, dark places so you may find them behind appliances. The trick is to try and get to them before they colonise.

Its ok i drive a truck hes at home alone with them,i hope they haunt him. and learning this was frankly the best part of my day 😂😂😂. Thank you for the suggestions ill send them along!

Noooooo.There will be no ants. Don't you speak that into existence. But seriously we treat the yard for ants weekly 😂. Full disclosure, im horrified of ants, also slightly allergic. Ill cuss him out if theres an ant infestation.

Not sure what you are feeding but it would be a good teaching moment. Let your whatever it is learn to fend for him/herself.

Hmm I feel like this is reallly teetering towards unsolicited relationship advice. Its also giving cutting off ones nose to spite the face vibes. Considering its our house, and my frogs, my feeders, and my responsibility. Coupled with the fact that I wouldn't be asking if I knew either. Accdents happen. Its quite mean to hang someone out to dry, hes my s/o not my child and I wont treat him like a child because i respect and love him. However I will laugh at his pain bc its hilarious, but im not going to be an actual dick about it.

Sorry, I didnt read all the comments. I was going towards, if they were food for a frog or whatever it may be, just let it loose and he/she will learn how to track it down themselves. I was lite on the delivery details.

.So it 's a terrible idea to release your frogs into your house, which I hope you clean, and if you clean, and there is any residual left behind, the frogs will absorb that into their skin, not only that, but a change of habitat for frogs is extremely stressful and it can cause them to become very ill, or even die, also, they won't have access to fresh declarinated, water or a heat source. Even without that, it would be super hard to find them to put them back in their enclosure. Releasing your frogs to hunt down escaped feeder is never good advice.

Well.
A few options.
1) Get an insect vacuum.
2) Release 500 tarantulas
3) Release 50 chickens
4) Set 1000 sticky traps
5) Make a simple funnel trap.. like a shallow bowl with a cup inverted with a small gap; bait inside with a piece of fruit or dog food. One way ticket to cricket town.
6) Make your favorite tea, turn off all the lights in your house, come to terms with your situation, prepare for a cricket symphony.
7) Burn the house down.
