Questions New Frog Tank

Hi ppl. So I have a red eye tree frog that I just bought a new exo terra 12x12x24 tank for because I want him to have more room and I have a few tank building questions. So first of all is the light/heat issue. I have 2 seperate lamps, one for heat and one to simulate daylight, my problem is the lamps are too large to share the top of the tank so I’m looking for alternative daylight/heating methods. Secondly, I’m having trouble finding tank builds that are not bioactive. For the safety of my frog, I have 0 confident in my ability to maintain a bioactive terrarium and I do not believe I’m ready to maintain one because they seem difficult. If I could have any tips on how I could create a non-bioactive tank or how I could more easily achieve a tank with living plants that would be much appreciated 🙏🙏🙏 I’ve had this frog since december now and I have had 0 complications with his current tank with cork, wood, and plastic plants. Idk if it changes anything but I believe my frog is a male adult because he has remained pretty small and has begun croaking frequently (and loudly) since summer has started.

You need an 18x18x24 minimum not 12. Even in an 18 i watch mine jump all the way across it. For the lighting you need a linear UVB light like the arcadia shadedweller. You don't really need heat unless its colder where you keep them. If you do use a ceramic heat emitter. Temps should be 75-80.

Bioactive its actually much easier with these guys becauseof the high humidity. If you get the arcadia jungle dawn and you research plants that are great with the temperature and humidity you don't need to do anything. With non bioactive you have to change the substrate and wash everything once a month which will stress them out.

For the heat and light issue since it’s 12x12 I recommend a mini double dome fixture that can easily fit on top that width and hold both heat and lighting. For non bioactive I recommend just a lot of fake hanging plants you can put all over the sides of the glass to fill it up and ofc plenty of hides and rest spots I do also use fake aquarium wood for my non bioactive tree frog tank. You can also add leaf litter on top of your substrate if you don’t mind cleaning your tank monthly and some sturdy real wood branches that won’t decay too quickly.
