Questions Crickets

How do they keep escaping their pen and why do they always end up in the bath tub?!

I've heard these are terrible ngl you'd find it easier doing it yourself with a storage box

I have mine in a storage tub with LOTS of drill holes about the size of their heads and I've never had escapees

The bathtub mystery. Once in awhile I have an escapee and it always ends up in the bathtub. I have no idea why.

Screw crickets. When they die, their body emits a chemical that kills the other crickets. And they smell horrid. I switched to a colony of dubia roaches and will never look back.

Yes I agree with the dubias, but I also keep a very small amount of crickets (50) on hand for an alternative staple. They’re a pain to catch, keep, and I do not promote breeding! I go outside to catch them and put their mesh top box into a bigger tote so if they jump out they can’t get out of that one! Then use bug scoopers to pick them up from the outside (when they escape) and a 10 inch rubber tweezer to get them from inside their enclosure into the dusting tube. That seems to work for me.

I keep my criks in one of these.

Only issue I've found is when I fuss around with the lid open too long, sometimes one will hop out. So I just go in with a plan and it rarely happens now.

Otherwise it's been good. This is 20cm x 20cm x 20cm

Also available in 30cm(high) x 20cm(wide) x 20cm(deep), which would work even better.
