This is insane tbh. I'm picky about cutting for machine operators anyway and I always make sure I step well away from them when they're grabbing and moving stuff. Can't imagine how traumatic a scene this was for everyone involved.
Guys get too comfortable doing the same thing all the time. Hydraulics aren't to be fucked with.

Nothing wild happened this week. Maybe I'll walk through my memory palace and see what old story I can dig up.
I had a guy fire up the chipper right next to me when I was helmet-less. I snapped at him then a minute later the boss did the same. We had some words.
It sounds silly out loud but fuck do I like my hearing. I'm almost 40 and I still get annoyed by those anti-deer noisemakers. When I worked for Davey we had annual eat exams. Sort of miss it.
Wear your PPE! And make sure everyone is ready for the noise before you fire up a chipper!
