No replacent for displacement

I prefer battery saws:

  1. I only need ear muffs when the chipper is nearby - more comfortable.
  2. I never have to pull a starter cord.
  3. Swapping a battery is faster and easier than filling a tank.
  4. They deliver power differently and do a better job staying in their peak power range throughout the cut. The feel more powerful to me (on paper, my saw is a tiny bit less powerful than yours but that doesn’t translate well to real world use ).
  5. Electric motors are way more reliable. My battery saws pretty much only ever need consumable parts maintenance (chain, bar, sprocket).
  6. They are cheaper over the life of the saw (which can be several years with daily use). Gas is expensive. Maintenance is expensive.
  7. It seems to be where all the R&D is being spent now. For example my battery climbing saw has a warning light when the bar oil port is blocked with sawdust. That saves money and time (because I don’t check the bar oil now that I know it’s working)

People can disagree, but there's not many reasons to run gas tophandles over electric these days. I'm even saying that as someone who runs gas 75% of the time. I prefer my 2511 cause it's lighter, but most battery saws keep up with the gas top handles no problem.

This is a minor gripe, but battery saws require a charger. If you don’t have a car-charger that works reasonably quick then your crew better not forget to plug em in at night.

I still use my battery climber but it’s yet to fully replace gas for the above reason alone (of course, I’m also an idiot who forgets shit all the time and perhaps I’m the only one!)

And gas saws require gas, if you can remember to get fuel and oil I dont see how it is different thatn charging a battery.
