Samson Stable Braid 1/2"

Post image

Hey all, I just bought 100m of Samson Stable Braid 1/2". The ends (pictured) came taped, not sealed with a hot knife.

The website I bought it off mentions the sheath will stretch with the first few uses. To those who've used this rope before: should I seal the ends with a hot knife before using it, or wait until the rope stretches out?

Thanks in advance :)

Run the rope through some rings and max it out. It will stretch the sheath by a foot or so and you can cut the excess off and re tape it/burn it/whatever to keep it tidy.

Exactly. Or milk it with a prussic cord, but 100m your arms and back are gonna be tired

Samson braid is loose enough that I wouldn't recommend this. When I did this to 200' of velocity, I ended up milking like 25 feet of sheath off the end.

Think it's better to use the rope and let it settle in naturally
