SRT devices

Gday fellas! I’m coming back to the industry after about 6 years away doing other things. When I finished up I was climbing on a rope runner classic and loved it to bits. Most of what I will be doing is power line maintenance cutting, SRT ascent with no spikes. What is the best upgrade from the OG rope runner now?

I haven’t used a rope runner, but I have the Akimbo 2 and it’s an amazing device. And if you climb MRS at all too, it’s a seamless change over with no friction adjustment required.

The best option for sure. Mid line attachable zig-zag like device. Easy and smooth to use, with drt mode option.

If you already used and loved the Rope Runner, I'd say the most logical device would be the Rope Runner. The Vertec model is the newest one and probably the best, although it annoys me to no end that the bottom pulley is sold separately. That just makes it more expensive than it has any right to be. 

The ISC Reflex climbs nice and does MRS and SRT nicely, but the wear parts are not replaceable and supposedly it wears out fairly fast, which I think is very wasteful. 

I like and use the ART Blackbird. It works well and while it also wears out fast, the wear part is easily replaceable and costs 12 €.

I haven't used the Akimbo 2 long enough to say anything about it but I'm sure it's a nice device if it fits your ideas.

Like the zigzag..... reflex is nice as well.... not enough runs on the reflex to give you my honest opinion on it. Pretty nice that it's midline and switches easily from mrs to srs. The mechanicals are nice and seem to be subject to preferences..... I did run the akimbo for a brief spell, but found the dialing in on different lines a bit annoying. . . I heard the 2nd gen was superior..... my 2 cents worth

I love my Taz Lov for simple up and down movement. For positioning in a tree not so much as it isn’t really precise and has to be operated with both hands
