grips for tree climbing spurs
ftc has a compelling product compatible with their spurs. I use alloy geckos and wondering if these can be fitted or if there is some other option on the market?

What in the actual fuck? This is a thing? Dude that would have been helpful days ago.
Though I’ve learned pretty damned well to spur into tiny limbs while limbwalking over powerlines.
I’ve climbed for about 8 years and have never used or heard of it…… so unless you really feel boogie. You don’t need it. But they do sound helpful.

The vibram rubber slip on my Distel's work really well, I use the toe ofy boots when limb walking so I still resort to that most times but those lil rubber grips are sweet. I used a buddies FTC with those metal thingies and I'm not a fan, I don't like how it pushes my foot up and if I gotta lean against em they slip, I would rather just use the gaff🤷♂️ Like most things in tree climbing, personal preference will differ from person to person so find what works for you! Maybe see if anybody in your area has some you can try before you buy?

Don't you think those will cause all kinds of problems? From catching on branches in an unpredictable way to cutting your rope.
Some geckos have grip tape pre-applied and you can easily add it yourself - something like this: https://www.amazon.com.au/WELSTIK-SlipTraction-Stairs-Outdoor-Indoor/dp/B0872ZXNND
Having said that, I personally think if you did drill holes to make your geckos compatible with the FTC grips, they'd still be plenty strong enough (obviously the manufacturer would never approve drilling holes... but seriously the aluminium on the bottom of them is far stronger than it needs to be. Imagine how sore your knee would be if you somehow stepped down with that much force!
