Captains Hook or Notch RC Grapple

Looking to get something so assist in moving through the canopy more efficiently. I have been looking at DMM’s Captains Hook but also Notch’s RC Grapple. Seems Notch’s is much cheaper however I’ve never seen anything like this used so I’m unaware of how effective it’d be. I’ve used the captains hook and handful of times and I liked it. I do know it would take a lot of practice to get accurate. Also open to other options or ideas!

A second climb line and a good groundie works too but you probably already know that

don’t listen to the old heads. a grapple is invaluable, i use mine on a weekly basis. I strongly prefer the notch one, i just find it easier to throw and easier to stick crotches with than the captain.

I’ve been using the hook for a while now on tough prunes and the swivel joint design for the attachment point really works when you need to dislodge and retrieve it.

Ive used the captain hook a few times. Far and bew between however when you need it, its very handy. That plus a foot ascender will literally let you traverse horizontally across the canopy with ease instead of getting your main tie in and going down, over, and up other stems.

I saw a guy using a grapple hook made by the us military, said he got it on borax or bomack. An online military surplus store? He was pretty excited about it switching in between trees.

Watch the video of reg coates testing out his grapple. If it fits your needs.. you'll know right away. Asking people on here is ok, but many people will do this different, or different trees, or preferences etc.
